I’m desperate. Super Pooper rarely sleeps in the swing anymore (gasp!), and wakes up when I try to transfer her to the crib after she’s fallen asleep breastfeeding. I know she’s fast asleep because she’s snoring on me, but she wakes up at the slightest movement. Whoever said “I slept like a baby,” doesn’t have one!
I’ve tried the binky, mobile, patting her stomach, rubbing her back, nursing her again and attempting a “do-over,” but none of that works. Then it hit me. If she falls asleep breastfeeding in the glider, she’ll fall asleep breastfeeding in the crib. You’re thinking, huh? This crazy woman is climbing into the crib to breastfeed so her baby will go to sleep. Not exactly, but close.
This is how it works. I begin breastfeeding Super Pooper in the glider. Nurse, nurse, nurse. Rock, rock, rock. I get her good and sleepy. When I hear the baby snores, I know it’s time to make my move. I stand up with Super Pooper still latched on, but asleep. I stealthily walk to the crib, hoist her over the railing, place her gently on the mattress and then lean over flat-backed while she continues to breastfeed because of course by this time she is awake. But not so awake as to scream and cry. This is progress. So I hang out for awhile, literally, while she lulls herself back to sleep nursing. Hey, it works.
The only problem, it’s back breaking! I need alternatives!
Does anyone have any suggestions? Please send help. I don’t want to have to wear one of those dorky Home Depot back braces every time it’s Super Pooper’s bedtime. Not everyone looks as good in those braces as this guy!

You have the right idea, putting her in the crib slightly awake so she gradually learns to put herself to sleep. It’s not as easy as the “experts” say. Good luck! May your back be strong!
I remember the days when my son would wake up the second I’d put him in his crib. I used to be terrified to lay him down!
I hope the little one sleeps soon!
I feel your pain, my little guy only just started sleeping through the night, well, most nights anyways, and he’s 19 months old.
Hi Honey
Loved your latest entries.
As far as cute sayings go I always liked the one when Katie lost a tooth on Christmas eve and wanted to know if the tooth fairy and santa would meet in the hallway.
Love DAD
Oh shame on me! Nearly a WHOLE month since I last read your blog. No wonder I’m cranky - you are good therapy!!
