My girls are fortunate. Fortunate to be healthy. Fortunate to have loving parents and grandparents. Fortunate to have lots of friends. Fortunate to have more than enough toys, games, books, clothes, and Webkinz to keep them happy. That’s why I jumped at Liz’s opportunity to participate in a random drawing to receive a first class lemonade stand created by Sunkist. Not because my girls needed something else! But because Sunkist is running a campaign called Take a Stand to encourage children to sell lemonade and donate the proceeds to charity.
I want my children to give back. To help out. To do their part. So, needless to say, I was thrilled when I found out we were chosen!
My girls were also ecstatic about the project and promptly scheduled a “business meeting.” When my hubby got home from work that night, we developed our business plan. Specifically, we decided where to sell the lemonade, how much to charge, whether it should be frozen or freshly squeezed, and what charity to donate the proceeds to. Sweet Angel took the minutes. So cute! We ultimately decided to sell fresh lemonade for $1 a cup at Grammy and Papa’s home because they live on a golf course, and to donate the proceeds to the American Diabetes Association because my hubby has diabetes.
How much did they make? Well, here is the letter that Sweet Angel wrote:
Dear American Diabetes assn,
Me and my sister have had the help of Sunkist Lemons to raze some money, {$108.10}, to help out with diabetes. We are doing this because our dad has diabetes and we are trying to help out. We sold approximately 100 cups of lemonade, but we were tipped a lot, that is how we ended up with $108.10. We are glad to help out.
So with the help of Liz, Sunkist, Grammy, Papa, Super Pooper and dozens of golfers, Sweet Angel and Feisty Girl were able to take a stand, give back and help others. Thank you!

Wow! How awesome, good for them, they learned something great and had a good time I’m sure! I bet that lemonade was welcomed with the heat around here lately! Love the letter!
What a great idea! Your young entrepreneurs figured out the key to success is location. For a lemonade stand, they needed walking traffic, and they found it. My daughter will always remember her lemonade stand in the neighborhood of Lambeau Field. Early business experience!
This is soooo cool! I really like this Idea!
Tell your girls they have so much to feel good about. How wonderful!
Oh my gosh! That’s so incredible!!!! Way to go, girls. I love this idea!
What an awesome job, you guys - we’re setting up our stand this weekend - I am sooooo glad that I was able to help them take a stand!
Hugs and lemony kisses!
What a wonderful idea! My girls have been asking to have a lemonade stand - we’ll have to do one soon.
Congratulations! You have touched people with your writing. You are a blue-ribbon blogger!

Amazing. That was one heck of a ‘business plan’ and an endearing ‘final summary report’! I’m so proud of them!
