Yes, this is my blog about work life balance. And each day, five times a week, as often as I can, I share my thoughts on work life balance and any tips or strategies I’ve found that work for me. But even I can get sick of me! So I thought it would be fun to start a series of posts that share what famous people have to say about work life balance. Yes, even the multi-million dollar celebrities struggle with this issue! How, when they can afford to hire a housecleaner, personal chef, landscaper, nanny, chauffeur, and personal trainer . . . I DON’T KNOW! But evidently they do.

Anyway, here’s what these famous people have to say about work life balance.

Kyra Sedgwick of TNT’s The Closer is married to Kevin Bacon and has two kids:

Kyra shared with Redbook that she’s still striving to find that perfect and fulfilling balance between work and home and added “There is a yin and yang to everything. You may not always get what you want, but sometimes the universe is telling you, this is what you need.” (I think Kyra is a Rolling Stones fan!)

Brooke Shields of NBC’s Lipstick Jungle is married to Chris Henchy and has two kids.

When asked by the Winnipeg Free Press if women can have work life balance she shared “If it’s a family and a career, why not? It may not be easy, but we don’t have to apologize for at least wanting the most of what is available to us.”

Jennifer Lopez, actress, singer, and entrepreneur, is married to Marc Anthony and has two kids . . . twins.

According to BrainyQuote.com, Jennifer firmly stated “If anyone can figure out how to balance my celebrity and my dual careers in music and film, it’s me. I don’t feel frightened; I feel challenged.”

Sarah Jessica Parker, actress and entrepreneur, is married to Matthew Broderick and has one child.

Sarah Jessica admits to ChinaDaily.com that she finds it hard to balance motherhood with being an actress because of all the attention it brings and adds candidly “I don’t know if I have found a happy balance with the cultural phenomenon of celebrity, especially what has happened over the last five years. I don’t think I will ever understand or strike a balance with that.”

Patrick Dempsey, actor, is married to Jillian Dempsey and has three children, including twins.

Patrick Dempsey understands the challenges women face when it comes to work life balance! In an interview on Family.com, Patrick empathizes with the challenges of the modern woman. “The woman’s identity used to be get married, settle down, have kids. That’s no longer true in modern society. Now it’s like, you’ve got a career, you get married, and then have kids. So then, how do you find a balance between being a good mother, a good businesswoman and a good wife? I mean, it’s much more complicated now.” I know! He so gets me. I loved McDreamy before this wonderful comment! I may have to start stalking him now.
