I’m an embarrassment to my kids already. Well, one kid actually . . . Feisty Girl. I knew the day would come, but didn’t think it would be so soon! I also thought my oldest daughter would be embarrassed first, when she was a teenager. Not my middle daughter, who’s only seven! I don’t take it personally; I know it’s to be expected. So I’ve been preparing myself for the day when they wouldn’t want to hold my hand in public anymore, would pretend not to see me waving frantically to get their attention at school concerts, and would rather I dropped them off at the party instead of walking them inside. Fortunately, they still like it when I do those things. Then what am I doing that’s so embarrassing? Singing in the car.
That’s the beauty of being in my thirties. I don’t care anymore if someone sees me singing while I’m driving. Evidently, Feisty Girl does though. The other day she asked me to close the windows and the sunroof. Since it was such a beautiful day, I asked “Why?”
Wait for it.
“You’re embarrassing me!”
So, being the sensitive mommy I am, I turned the music up.

That’s funny! My eight-year-old often glares over at me while I’m belting it out and says, “Mom! You *can’t* sing this song good!!”
Puts me right in my place! But never stops me!!!
Enjoy!
It never stops me, either! It’s most fun when the whole family sings along. You should hear our mini-van wail on “Crocodile Rock”.
Hey,
I recently added you to my “domestic divas” the good blogs list and wanted to come over and say hello
LOL I LOVE it! Isn’t it a great feeling to finally not care what people think? I can’t WAIT to embarass CJ …
Dance like noone’s lookin’ and sing like noone’s listenin’!!
hahahaha. I applaud your “sensitivity.”
