Posting your tutorials on http://www.instructables.com seems to generate a lot of traffic to your blog also.

Great article and advice! Thanks for sharing. A month ago I wrote a post about sewing room ergonomics and thought that perhaps whipup would like to link to it and emailed them. I was pleasantly surprised when they did and my traffic sky-rocketed for a week. Of course if I had planned it better I would have prepared a great follow-up article to post the next day.

Like Barbe, I’ve been disappointed at how few crafters took me up on my offer to write about them on my blog. While I don’t get near the traffic that her site most likely does, I was quite surprised when my public offer on two forums yielded on 2 takers.

Do check around, there are many crafters that are willing to help promote other crafters.

I really appreciate this article!

My husband and I have done craft shows for more than 30 years and I’m just now getting into online selling.

When we’re at shows and shoppers ask about my product, I have no trouble discussing the quality of the beads that I use and why my work is a worthy investment. Online promotion, however, is quite a different matter. It feels like I’m deliberately trying to attract attention to myself which, all of my life, I was taught not to do. Quite a dilema.

Great tips – and thanks for all those links too – there are some there that I hadn’t come across before, so lots more sites to bookmark!
I have an etsy shop, and blog – one thing which generated lots of blog hits was when I submitted a tutorial to a contest on Sew, Mama, Sew. I got even more hits when the tutorial was chosen as one of the winners, and lots more subscribers.

I’m the jewelrymaking editor for Craft Gossip, and I have to tell you……..I have to WORK to find people to blog about!!!!!!
