Having a final reward definitely motivates you to finish something. I think smaller rewards help to. Last year, I've learned a little something that works nicely - I tell myself I'm not going to be able to ____ fill in the blanks with something fun you really want to do until AFTER I finish ____ whatever that you don't want to do.
