As we wind up for the Holiday Season on eBay, there is one thing that you can prepare for to optimize your eBay store for the New Year, if you haven’t done so already.

Create Multiple Custom Store Categories

It makes total sense!  ;-)   eBay lets you create up to 300 Categories AND Subcategories in a single store.  That’s a lot of categories!!  Make sure you are using relevant, popular keywords in your custom category names.  This will ensure you are placing on Search Engine Results Pages (SERPs).

To add Store categories:

  1. Go to My eBay.

  2. Move your cursor above the Account tab until you see a pull-down menu.

  3. Select “Manage my store.”

  4. Click the “Store Categories” link.

  5. Click the Add Category button.

To add Store subcategories:

  1. Go to My eBay.

  2. Move your cursor above the Account tab until you see a pull-down menu.

  3. Select ‘Manage my store.”

  4. Click the “Store Categories” link.

  5. Click the category name link for the category where you want to add subcategories.

  6. Click the Add Category button.

Hi Jenn,

Your blog looks great and a really good article too! Getting traffic from google is something new ebayers overlook and like you say, the names of ebay store categories are picked up by google as keywords. Great info and I hope to visit you blog again soon.
