Welcome to Spark an Idea Thursday. Each week we’ll share some great ideas for a topic of interest to our readers. We invite you to grab our image and carry the tradition through to your own blog! If you do, please link back to this post so we know where you were inspired!
This week’s “Spark an Idea Thursday” is about making “real life” connections with people you know online. I don’t actually have a lot of experience with meeting online friends in real life, but I’d like to do better with that. So I thought I’d take this opportunity to launch a new initiative: the Smart Solopreneurs Meetup Group. Keep reading to learn how you can get involved (even if you don’t live in the Greater Boston area).
I love Meetup.com. I’m the organizer for a local moms’ Meetup group in my town, and I’m amazed at the number of members who have joined our little group. I’ve met people I never would have met otherwise, and they’re such cool people, too!
So when I learned about the topic for this week’s Spark an Idea Thursday, I decided to organize a new Meetup group for all of the awesome freelancers, solopreneurs, and other small business owners out there. I live in the Boston area, so that’s where the in-person events will be (at least at first). But some of the events will be online (teleseminars, interviews, etc.) and if the group takes off, we’ll expand the live events to other cities – so I encourage you to join no matter where you live!
If you’d like to take part, just click here to join the Smart Solopreneurs Meetup Group! Hopefully it will be a great way for us to connect and learn from one another. I can’t wait to get started!
