I do a variation of the tub thing, I just put out a laundry tub and give the kids the hose. My computer is beside the door so I can watch them from there.

Other things I use:
- Rice (I tint it with food coloring and they spend up to an hour sifting, scooping and pouring it or gluing it to paper and themselves.)
- Balloons. Such a hit around here and the boys will happily bat them around for hours.
- Mattress. We have an extra mattress floating around our house, so I lean it up against a bed and the kids roll and slide down it for hours.
- Wind up toys. When the boys were tiny, I`d wind up a toy and send it zipping across the floor and they would crawl after it and bring it back, giving me a good 2-5 min. to work on something.:)

But the absolute BEST way to keep kids busy? Have another kid. The two of them are really good at entertaining one another when just one wouldn`t do nearly as well.

I love the ideas. I wish our bathroom would provide more room for the laptop option, although I'm sure if I started thinking more creatively, I could rig up something!

Thanks for a great concept and I'll look forward to reading more tips on Thursday.
