Now that I've found your site I've been making my way through your older stuff and was excited when I came across this post.

I am a former high school English teacher with a bit of newspaper experience. I did some freelance contributing to a newspaper when my son was a baby, and over the past few years I've been doing freelance editing, which led to some freelance page design/desktop publishing, which in turn led to some more freelance writing. Funny how these things work out.

My interests include education, interior design, trends, small businesses, and parenting/family life.

Hi!

How cool that you're letting us do this! Thanks!

What can I write about? Well, I'd say my biggest areas of expertise are health care, education and parenting, with media issues and government tied for fourth. I covered education, youth and family topics and local government for a daily newspaper (The Desert Sun in Palm Springs, California). And I've written about health care for a whole host of publications, including a weekly journal, a website and an academic medical center's communications department. Just for a few examples of topics I've tackled, I can list the worsening nursing shortage, standardized testing and accountability standards issues, No Child Left Behind, math and science teacher shortages, paying for college, medical technology, health care legislation and diabetes.

I also am very, very interested in religion and religious issues, since I'm a grown-up preacher's kid and a deacon in the Presbyterian Church (USA). I'm an active member of my church now (too active sometimes...I'm on a host of different committees), so I've always followed church policy and political issues. But as a parent, I'm getting increasingly more interested in spiritual formation.

And I write about my successes and failures at parenting at my personal blog: http://three-peas-in-a-pod.blogspot.com. I write about random other stuff at http://jenniferlarsonwrites.wordpress.com. And for fun, I'm part of a blogging team that dissects why we, as parents, buy what we do; you can find me under the name Jenn L at gogetyourjacket.com.

Hmmm.... I just realized in my comment above that I forgot to add my website and blogs.

That's me you wrote about in this post...the teacher-turned-freelance-curriculum writer! I write curriculum and articles for subscription-based databases (EBSCOhost). I am also very close to finishing up my Master's in Information Sciences, Technology and Research. I am passionate about teaching students and adults how to find, use and evaluate information.
For fun, I love to write about the funny side of parenting. I have a "baby gap" ...two teens and a baby. Same husband. Still confused as to what happened, but loving it just the same! :)
I love your site and have been following you ladies for one whole day now, LOL. I'll be back!

Hello Ladies! Congratulations on the success of your site! I'd love to be a part of this exciting new chapter of the site. A bit about me - I'm a mom to a seven year old boy and therapist to several children. I'm also a writer of two blogs and one parenting site. The first blog is my portfolio at www.heiddizalamar.wordress.com as well as The Freshman Writer at www.thefreshmanwriter.wordpress.com. I write primarily of parenting issues and writing, but also write about mental health and wellness. In addition, I am a NY discussion leader at Momslikeme.com, a networking site for moms. I'm also the NY Parenting Examiner at Examiner.com. Feel free to visit any of these sites for samples of my work. Take care and congratulations again ladies!

Thank you for the opportunity!

I have a few areas I’m experienced with, but do consider myself a generalist.
Parenting, real estate (commercial and residential), interior design, business and retail, creativity, strategic writing, creative writing (MFA), and creativity coaching.

I have experience with marketing/PR/strategic communications, as a teacher and practitioner.

I'm a mom blogging at Wilmaville.com, have a couple blogs and moderating deals in the works and have my "practical" site at TheWriteElizabeth.com.

I hope we can collaborate soon!

Hi,
I'm a father of four. I raised my two oldest children (now 23 and 21) on my own and I now have a two year old and a one year old with my new wife. That in itself is a qualification. My areas of expertise are:
-being a dad (single and married dad),
-writing for radio and television,
-collection practices for (predatory) lenders.

My blogs can be found here:
http://hubpages.com/hub/Becoming-a-dad-again--over-40
http://hubpages.com/hub/Bill-Collectors-you-dont-have-to-put-up-with-the-harassment
http://hubpages.com/hub/How-to-name-your-baby

I would cherish the opportunity to expand my writing duties. My goal is to be able to stay at home with the babies as these are my last.

Hi! I would love to write for you. From my experiences and perspectives as a mom and a public school teacher, three of the areas I'd like to write about are:

* pregnancy (as well as reproductive health), parenting, and kids

* living well (and creatively) on a shoe-string budget

* crafts and creative endeavors (with or without kids!)

I'll send you an email regarding writing samples...

Thanks for the opportunity!

Hi there.

I am a freelance copyeditor and writer based out of northern Vermont. I've published a number of articles on various types of outdoor recreation, personal profiles, and travel. Samples are available on the portfolio page of my Web site (http://www.fourfoldpress.com).

My blog (http://www.fourfoldmom.com) is about "accentuating the positive and eliminating the negative" as parents. I believe in working towards balance in our lives -- even if it feels elusive at times.

I write full-time, so I can turn assignments around quickly.

All the best -
Amanda

Howdy!

I've been enjoying receiving your posts, and hearing how other freelancers handle various situations. (I especially have enjoyed the mommy-perspective on things.)

I've been a freelance journalist for almost a decade. My specialties include weddings, home design, non-profits, lifestyles and travel. I have written my share of Web site content and press releases too. I've also dabbled in ghostwriting and fiction.

My portfolio is available at:
http://www.autumncarpenter.net/portfolio.html
and references here:
http://www.autumncarpenter.net/testimonials.html

I hope to coordinate on a project soon!

Thanks,
Autumn r. Carpenter

Hi there! I'm a huge fan of Freelance Parent and was so excited to read this post! Here's my background (as brief as possible):

In my former life (before kids), I was a book publicist, and continue to write book press releases for PR firms associated with publishing houses. I specialize in fiction, but also love writing press releases about non-fiction topics, especially biographies.

Since becoming a mom, I've expanded to green blogging and writing. My personal blog, teensygreen, features products and services geared towards families ready to make baby steps into the eco-world. I also guest write for green sites 5 Minutes for Going Green, ecorazzi, and am a paid blogger for Brita's "Filter For Good" campaign. I'm also the "green genius" for the newly launched site, Working Mom Lifeline (www.workingmomlifeline.com).

I guess you can say I specialize in eco-writing, but I've also branched out to science and SEO marketing. I've written articles on biodiesel and bamboo flooring for How Stuff Works, as well as ghostwritten a book on SEO about seven years ago (so it's safe to say it's pretty outdated). I also do general freelance articles/blog posts/press releases for businesses ranging from car windshield companies to a blog design firm.

Thanks for this wonderful opportunity!

Do I want to work with you? You bet! You are very generous to open the doors to us.

I am a technical writer with experience in writing online Help, user manuals, programming manuals, online demonstrations, newsletters, and training materials. I must be pretty good at tech writing; I've won 15 writing awards from STC. In my VA business I offer editing, proofreading, document production and layout services. Need an index? I can create those, too.

I am sometimes hesitant to say that I'm a technical writer. Folks assume that I can only write technical instructions. I've tackled a lot more than that for a wide range of subjects. For example, I was a blogger for 1 1/2 years with my parenting blog, which also featured many product reviews.

Check out my web site and email me if you want to know more. Thanks again!

First of all, let me say that I was led to your blog through WAHMtalkradio. I am not familiar with how a freelance business works - do I retain rights to my articles, etc?? But I'm willing to learn. :)

I am the Founder of the Emphasis On Moms Ministry at http://www.EmphasisOnMoms.com, I blog for PreciousMoms.com, maintain my own blog, and write a column for MomWritersLitMag.com

I, like many others love to write about being a mom and parent. But I think I have some differences in that I am a Christian parent. So anything to do with faith, morals, values, character building, etc is right up my alley. I also am passionate about writing to women in regards to self esteem and image. I keep a keen eye out on media influences as far as raising kids, trends and what-not. And I was a full-time custodial stepmom. :)
