I find the writers community, with the exception of one or two trolls, are very supportive of each other. I don't find us viewing each other as the competition at all. I believe that if you're a good writer your work will speak for itself, you don't have to worry about others. Youll always find work. But I never look at my fellow writers as competition - just others members of the writing community. Colleagues, if you will. Some of them land the gigs I want, darn them, but that only encourages me to work harder at getting the next one. Hmmm....now I'm starting to view everyone with suspicion..... ; ) Nice post. There's just so many jobs out there, I have PLENTY to keep me busy, and it sounds like others do too.... So I wonder. Plus, you're on guru, I'm on elance, you may take next week off while I'm taking this week off and etc. Yes, the market is "flooded" but theres an almost equal ### of jobs out there. . .Niching helps , too!
