I have found that a lot of people don't know how to express their needs for web content. My advice is to ask a lot of questions up front. tThe better you know the project and the client's goals, the better the job you can do for them. Make up a little questionairre and have it handy when you speak with a client about a writing project. It helps guide you to find the right information and covers all the angles. I've been fortunate enough to work with clients that are thrilled with my work, but I tend to have good intuition when it comes to businesses.
