I know when I shared this activity for tween and teen girls, that I mentioned I would find activities for teen and tween boys too. And I promise, think, hope I will! But in the meantime, I want to share this cool activity my oldest daughter did at Girl Scout camp last week.

My daughter and her fellow tweens made scented eye pillows! I guess if you’re going to sleep in a tent it helps to have something that looks and smells pretty with you. Anyway, all the girls loved not only making these eye pillows, but sleeping with them on.

Here’s What You Need to Make Scented Eye Pillows:

  • 8″ x 8″ Fabric (Something soft and colorful!)
  • Needle
  • Thread
  • Scissors
  • 1 cup uncooked rice
  • Crushed cloves
  • Crushed cinnamon sticks (not ground cinnamon)

Here’s How to Make Scented Eye Pillows:

1. Fold the fabric in half so it’s in the shape of a rectangle. Make sure the inside of the fold is the side of the fabric you want showing when the eye pillow is finished.

2. Sew two sides of the fabric together with the needle and thread, leaving one side open to add the scented rice mixture. It’s best to leave a short side open.

3. Turn the fabric inside out so you can see the “pretty” side of the fabric and not the sewing stitches.

4. Add crushed cloves and crushed cinnamon sticks (not ground cinnamon) to the rice until the mixture has a scent you like.

5. Pour the mixture into the fabric pouch.

6. Sew closed the remaining open end of the eye pillow.

This eye pillow craft is simple and great for tween and teen girls to do at slumber parties! Hey, these eye pillows may even cut down on the late night giggling.

Since I left you hangin’ again on activities for tween and teen boys, check out Camp Weary Parent’s activities. They’re not only for tween and teen girls! This I do promise. :)

Hi Shannon! I have been trying to contact you about a prize I won on your other site, but can’t seem to get anywhere. I’m not sure that I even have the right contact info, so could you please email me whenever you have a chance? Thanks so much!
