My oldest daughter made a reindeer craft years ago, but I love it so much I hang it every year. If you’ve read even a few of my posts, you know I love making handprint crafts like handprint angels, handprint turkeys and handprint spiders. This Christmas craft has the bonus plan though. It uses your kid’s footprint too!

Here’s What You Need to Make a Handprint (and Footprint!) Reindeer:

Here’s How to Make a Handprint Reindeer:

1. Trace both handprints and one footprint (with shoes) on the brown construction paper.

2. Cut out the handprints and glue them to the top of the green construction paper.

3. Cut out the footprint and glue it so it slightly overlaps the handprints.

4. Cut out two circles from the white construction paper for the reindeer’s eyes.

5. Cut out one circle from the red construction paper for the reindeer’s nose.

6. Glue on the reindeer’s eyes and nose.

7. Use a black marker to “dot the eyes” and make the reindeer’s mouth.

Now you too have a handprint reindeer to hang up every year!

What a cute idea! I know my kids would love this. I may just have to break out the construction paper this year! My mother was a third grade teacher, so I grew up on arts and crafts like this, and now I like to do them with my kids! But sometimes, I just don’t want to deal with the mess! That’s why I love Kabillion’s Little Director: http://www.kabillion.com/littledirector is a site where kids can go and create drawings, animate them, add voiceovers, music, and you can even get the animations on DVD! I work with Kabillion, and it’s such an innovative and creative site! Let me know if you check it out, and what your kids think!
