How Christmas Cookies Can Help Save the Oceans

Many of us make Christmas cookies this time of year because cookies are a great way to share holiday cheer with friends, family and colleagues. Not to mention Santa expects to get cookies on Christmas Eve! (If you’re looking for cookie recipes that Santa will surely love, check these out!) Anyway, today I want to share another reason to make Christmas cookies . . . they can help save the oceans. Huh? Let me explain.

Oceana and the Food Network’s Warren Brown are working together on a campaign called “Eat a Cookie, Save the Oceans.” The way it works is this. You can virtually adopt one of sixteen ocean creatures by making a donation to Oceana. Or you can donate to Oceana on someone’s behalf as a holiday gift.

Then as a token of their appreciation, Oceana will send you (or your gift recipient) up to 16 ocean themed cookie cutters, an official adoption certificate, ocean facts and a sugar cookie recipe created just for this campaign by the Food Network’s Warren Brown.

So if you’re going to be making Christmas cookies anyway, why not help save the oceans while you’re at it!
