My girls love wearing headbands! They have all sorts of them, including ones that look like bunny ears for Easter and reindeer antlers for Christmas. Since St. Patrick’s Day is coming up, I knew they’d enjoy making headbands with Irish shamrocks on them.

Here’s What You Need to Make an Irish Shamrock Headband:

  • Green card stock
  • Green pipe cleaners
  • Green construction paper
  • Pencil
  • Scissors
  • Stapler
  • Tape
  • Stickers, markers, glitter glue (optional)

Here’s How to Make an Irish Shamrock Headband:

1. Cut strips of green card stock about 2-3 inches wide and as long as the piece of card stock.

2. Staple two strips of green card stock together.

3. Wrap these strips of card stock around your child’s head to measure how big the headband needs to be and then staple the strips together where needed to create a good fit.

4. Cut out two shamrocks for each headband from the green construction paper. You can trace this Irish shamrock to get the size of shamrock we used.

5. Take two pipe cleaners and coil each around a pencil, leaving a couple inches straight at the end.

6. Tape one Irish shamrock to the end of one pipe cleaner and then repeat with the other shamrock and pipe cleaner.

7. Tape the two pipe cleaners topped with Irish shamrocks to either side of the headband.

8. To make this Irish shamrock headband extra festive, kids can decorate it with stickers, markers or glitter glue.
