Unfortunately, the weather is taking a turn for the worse. At least this week. The forecast is rain, rain and more rain. So I thought I would share an idea for some indoor fun.
Forts . . . kids love to build forts!
Boys . . . girls . . . toddlers . . . tweens . . . all love to build forts. Okay, I haven’t polled every boy, girl, toddler or tween, but I know from my experience growing up, talking to my hubby and my own toddler and tweens, that forts are a big hit. I still remember building forts with my cousin under their pool table in the basement. That fort even had multiple rooms!
My girls have built indoor forts and outdoor forts. The outdoor fort, a full-scale teepee, became the neighborhood hangout! But since we’re talking about rainy day activities, I’ll focus on the indoor forts.
I like the indoor forts because making them motivates my girls to strip their beds and mine! You see I recommend we build forts on the day I’m due to change the sheets. It’s a win win really. I get the beds stripped and they get tons of blankets and sheets to build a fort with.
Once the fort is built, we read stories in there, play games and even had lunch in their once. So if it’s raining where you are, and you’re looking for free fun and help stripping the beds, I recommend having your kids build forts!
If after building the fort, you’re still looking for indoor activities, try these kids crafts, easy recipes, printable coloring pages, printable fill in puzzles, websites for kids and indoor scavenger hunt game.

Kids do love to build forts! My son will usually build them when it’s too dark for him to play outside. He doesnt call them forts though. He calls them houses, school busses and sometimes zoos! Love your pics! Cute kids
