Mike is a fellow Orlando marketing professional, and owner of Suluta Affiliate Program Management. I asked him to share his experience using Twitter to help promote clients.
Tell me about yourself:
I’m a proud Puerto Rican / Costa Rican mix, born in New Jersey. When I was 5, we moved to Michigan for 10 years, and then have been in Florida ever since. I have a wonderful 8 year old daughter, enjoy playing soccer, and truly enjoy my line of work – internet marketing.
How are you using Twitter/social media to promote a client?
The client is Adore de Salon (http://www.twitter.com/adoredesalon). We’ve taken a holistic approach to marketing the Beauty Salon because we believe it all ties together. Twitter, Facebook, SEO, SEM, Local SEO and more, we play off their synergy. For example, we’ve made sure to list ourselves on every Twitter directory we could find, can you say backlinks? Our website has a link to our twitter profile which has a link back to the webpage – verifying that we are who we say we are. It also links to our Facebook “Fan” page, where you can see pictures of our work, and interact with others who have enjoyed our services. We consider social media an extension of the old fashioned “word of mouth” advertising, but amplified to extend to those beyond your everyday life.
We’ll also be launching a contest very soon that will encourage the interaction of bloggers and tweeps to increase their number of entries. Follow us on Twitter for details, it’s an awesome prize.
Twitter and social media lovers love to discover when they visit the salon that we have wifi – definitely a plus in the tech world!
What successes have you seen?
It’s still early, but Twitter is already our #2 source of traffic to the website behind search engines! We’ve already been featured on a popular Orlando blog, with more to come shortly. Can you say, relevant targeted, geographically targeted backlinks? We’re so encouraged by the short term results, we’re focusing on our social media campaigns as the cornerstone of our online marketing strategy.
How do you work with bloggers?
So far, we’ve given sample services to bloggers so that they can accurately review our services. We even go so far as to let them know what the services would have cost so they can see the value our clients are receiving. Soon, we’d like to offer guest blogging services to answer difficult questions readers may have regarding their hair. Lastly, our contest will be tied tightly to bloggers, creating a win for everyone – we expand our brand, bloggers have great content, and someone gets an awesome prize.
