Welcome to Spark an Idea Thursday. Each week we’ll be sharing some great ideas for a topic of interest to our readers. We invite you to grab our image and carry the tradition through to your own blog! If you do, please link back to this post so we know where you were inspired! Today’s topic? Spark an Idea about Homepreneur Health.

I laugh at how people perceive me working from home. As if I have time to bake cookies and hang out with Max as well as go for a 10 mile jog (not that I even have the desire to do that!). Working from home means you’re probably less likely to do the things you make yourself do when you work outside the home, exercise being one.

If you work from home, what’s your exercise routine?

For me, it’s sporadic, especially this summer. I’ve always loved yoga and try to bring it in to my schedule in some way. Recently I started doing it first thing, just for 10 minutes. As I get older I find that I’m creakier when I wake up, so stretching and doing a few Sun Salutations first thing makes me feel great. I even feel so awake I don’t need coffee. Doesn’t keep me from drinking it anyway!

When it’s cooler, I like to walk around the neighborhood. Now that we moved back to Arkansas, that will be more of a workout since there are hill here (something Florida is void of). I also love to swim, and Max and I have been enjoying swimming all summer.

Whatever you do, do it. Don’t get stuck at your computer all day and avoid exercise! Even if it’s just stretching every hour or so, do it. Get up and walk around the house. Walk to the store. Dance. Whatever it takes. We work-from-homers have to take extra measures to make sure we exercise and take care of our health! After all, we don’t get sick days!

Good post and very true. When you are working from home on the internet the hours can slip by pretty fast. Before you realize it a whole day has gone and you haven’t left your desk. At least working outside of the home you can take regular breaks.
You have to be more disciplined when you are working from home. A good idea is to set a time when you have to stop whatever you are doing and have a break. take the dog out for a walk, or go for a run.
You should treat working at home as though you were working outside of the home. What I mean by that is, that you shouldn’t sit in front of your computer in your dressing gown. Get dressed. Ideally do some excercise before starting and turn on your computer refreshed.
Dscipline yourself to focus for a few hours then have a break. Set an alarm and when it goes off stop everything and have a break. It’s not all about work. It’s about a healthy lifestyle.

I have to schedule my days to eat, work out, SHOWER, go food shopping, get some fresh air, self care, hang out etc or my days start and end being stuck in the house. Great post!
