Because I hate researching things, I will give you my own definition of Twitter. It’s a social media medium you can use to:
- connect with likeminded people
- spread the word about your business
- build traffic to your website or blog
Imagine a room full of people that like the same things you do. Maybe they’re working in the same industry, or maybe they could use your products or services. Whatever the case, there’s a reason they’re all in your room. You have things in common.
So it’s a little noisy in this room, but there are some great conversations going on. This is essentially Twitter. You can jump from conversation to conversation, or start your own. You can post links to your blog or useful articles you find, ask questions, make new friends. All from the comfort of your home or office.
Getting Started
I wrote a great post a few months back called Top Ten Twitter Tips that you should check out before you get started on Twitter.
But once you set up your account, follow me (I’m pretty good about following back, as long as you and I have something in common) and let me know you read this post.
Coming Tomorrow: a glossary of Twitter terms!
