One mistake I noticed in marketing promotions is that most marketers focus too much attention on their products and services that they forgot about saying any benefits their products can give their customers.

Number 2 REALLY strikes a cord with me. I just did a post on my blog on "Discovering Your Brand Super Power". The "super power" is making your marketing pieces look as if you were reading your customers' minds, serving up exactly what they want. The Internet gives us phenomenal tool to achieve "super hero status".

Jeff Herring, The Article Marketing Guy has a great quote that addresses the whole mindset of "Competitors". He says "There's more people out there waiting to hear from you, who can only hear it from you, than you can ever get to in your lifetime!"

This just totally eliminates competition! My Quote? "Some will, Some won't, So What?" :)

I like your comment in particular about embracing your competition. No matter how successful you are, you can always learn from studying and learning from those you compete with.

These strike me, as someone whose been building a business for several years now, as being very much true. The embracing your competition really makes a lot of sense, and was a key piece for me.
