I finally got my newsletter up and running last week – and it was really, truly exciting. OK, I know that makes me sound like a total geek, but it’s true.
The first issue of Weekly Wisdom went out on Friday via . (By the way, I think they are FANTASTIC - and they are FREE until I get more than 100 subscribers!!). The creation process was a breeze, and they had a very beautiful template I was able to easily customize to match the brand of my site. I linked to some blog entries, picked out a great book to recommend, and sent it out to my 'huge' list of 15 subscribers.
I think - no, I know - the absolute BEST part was knowing that I had one - yes, one - subscriber on my list that I have never met before, never spoken to, nothing. Just some anonymous person in cyberspace who was interested enough in eSelfHelp to want to subscribe. This is why I am doing this - to touch lives that I have never touched before. Who knows what is going on in this person's life? Could I make it better? Can I make a difference? How will add value to their day?
My site now reaches beyond my inner circle of friends, and I am committed to making a difference in the lives of my subscribers. I have a little list-building to do before my approach makes me some money, but my attitude will show, and my passion WILL differentiate eSelfHelp from any competition I might have.
Can sending out one email to one anonymous person change a life? Perhaps not theirs, but it sure changed mine!
