Thanks to this blog entry I couldn't sleep last night (also sent from PB).

What particularly interests me is the use of... target="_blank"

Digg opens links in new windows, SU opens them in the current window.

If Digg opened their links in the same window, would the length of time on the site increase?

I believe the viewing habits of most web browsers tend to close new windows pretty rapidly.

Personally, I wish Digg would open links in the same window.

Just a thought to consider.

<em>bugsy's last blog post..<a href='http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/YooperSteez/~3/235774065/' rel="nofollow">Photo Friday #002: U.P. 200 Dog Sled Race Begins</a></em>

"the ‘Stumbers’ are genuinely nice people"

Are they actually called Stumbers rather than Stumblers?

Nice article, thanks. I've been writing on my site about how artists can use the web and when I get to social networking, I'll definitely be linking to this, if that's OK.

Incidentally, I found you through a Google search that led me to a ProBlogger article that mentioned you.

Congratulations on your success, I got a lot out of this post. First of all I found your site via pro blogger, so I can understand why you appreciate traffic from that site more (wink, wink). Secondly, your post was a excellent introduction to social media. Why I am no rookie to web development I am new to blogging and have started exploring social media and this information was helpful. More importantly I "got" why you have been successful by how you put together your posts. This was a great example for me. Job well done.

Thank you.

Wendy, What do you mean by this?

"if you keep ‘Stumbling’ your own site, after a while you’ll reach your quota."

Since you can only stumble a particular page on a site one time, what kind of quota do you think exists?

Can you explain this in more detail?

Thanks for this thoughtful and well written post Wendy. I've been blogging for a while, but haven't yet ventured much into the world of social media. Excellent idea to start by learning one well and you've given me the impetus to start Stumbling. Thanks again.

I'm originally from ProBlogger too, as far as that goes. Thanks so much for all the great info here, Wendy, as social networking is still a challenge (well, less so now!). I've found more non-techie geared Digg-type sites, where I'm more comfortable as a lifestyle/books blogger. My favorite is http://www.FetchRex.com.
