We did two things to find clarity:

1. We worked on our 30 second pitch
2. We described our business in less than one hundred words.

In these two activites we answered Dawud's five questions and Lisa's question in a consise and susinct manner. We chose to do this to attract our users interest and attention.

Clarity so important, not just for business but for life.

I use an exercise when something is not working for me, to ask what don't i like or want about the situation and then from that develop a clearer picture asking what i do want.

Have written several post on the topic

Hi Dawud...you make some excellent points. Gaining clarity around the questions you've mentioned is critical, but I've found there's an additional question that is even more important...

WHY do you do what you do?

It's the answer to this question that will make the emotional connection to your market and which will define why they'll choose you over any number of other professionals offering the same or similar services.

Although it seems a simple enough question, it's one that many initially have a hard time answering. Not because they don't, on some level, know why they do what they do, but they've never really stopped to think about it, let alone articulate it to others.

It can help to ask yourself...what personal life event prompted or inspired you to go into the particular biz you chose? What impact do you want the work you do to have for others, for society, for the world?

Thanks for an informative, and thought-provoking post, Dawud.
