Hey Wendy,

I think your email is also foobar'd. :-)

Tried to send you email last night and again this morning and it just bounces back with a server error.

Here's the error:
host emomsathome.com[70.103.16.161] said: 550-"The
recipient cannot be verified. Please check all recipients of this 550
message to verify they are valid." (in reply to RCPT TO command)

It'll get better, you'll be so relieved when the migration is done. :-)

Have an awesome day!

Hey Ed,

Good call on Midphase - that's who we plan to go with soon too, just didn't want to invest the time yet.

Be sure to give Wendy your aff link if she considers it - we all help each other and every little bit helps. :-)

BUT - for email I'd recommend specialty email hosting. I've been using www.Webmail.us - they have excellent webmail access, but more importantly they do small business email, just email, so they worry about stuff like deliverability. web hosting places don't deal well with deliverability stuff since it's only a small part of their business.

I highly recommend them - they do have a 14 day trial before they bill you.

Try the IMAP option so you can access your email from anywhere, including their excellent webmail client.

BTW - despite their name, they do a lot more than webmail. :-) it's a full service managed email service, and it's the best of them all from my extensive (read: anal) research a year ago when we went to them.

Have an awesome day!

I can't recommend Hostgator. I've been with them since way back in my web design days. And even though I purchased a dedicated IP, my email accounts are being blacklisted by a number of lists because Hostgator went and got several of their email servers blacklisted. It's a big drag. I'm actually in the process of moving over to Midphase. They'll transfer all of your files for you. A huge time saver!

Ok, I know our friend Ed at EvolvingTimes.com has the "notify on comments" plugin and i THOUGHT you had it too. But it really doesn't really matter though. :-)

We installed it on our site and it's made a real difference in getting people comming back to respond when others leave comments after them.

Hey, after all - i usually ckeck that box on blogs, and so does Jennifer. That's why we installed it.

Have an awesome day!

PS, yes, I HATE Yahoo hosting. WendyPiersall.com is hosted with Blue Host, and man, they are the bomb.

Sarah is in the process of moving the site over to Blue Host today, in fact. When I called Yahoo yesterday about the server errors, they were NO help at all.

Kind of like the time my whole blog came up with blank pages, and I called then and they said the whole thing was gone and that I'd have to start from scratch. Only to find out it was a bad plugin that once deleted, brought everything back to normal. Glad I didn't listen to their incompetent tech support!

Hey Wendy,

I went through a lot of research on picking a web hosting place a few months ago. msg me if you wanna bounce ideas around.

I think you have Yahoo and IMHO they really suck (i'm so positive, hurts to say that) - but I believe they do. They're way too big and clumsy for something like that for some reason. Get someone who's in THAT business - only in that business.

There are some gotchas you won't see advertised, like the max concurrent MySQL connections allowed. That means that if you get too much traffic (regularly a REALLY good thing) some of your site stuff will stop working.

Basically we're with HostGator now - they're very cheap and it just works. i THINK they limit you to 25 mysql connections.

Regardless, haven't had a compelling enough reason to switch yet even with the traffic hammering we've been blessed with.

I.e. - 21,300 hits yesterday and just passed 24,000 hits today.

wanted to move to AN Hosting (owned by MidPhase - but different price plan options) when the time comes, but haven't yet... I THINK they allow 50, but not sure. I do remember i's more than HostGator.

And most of these guys will migrate your stuff for you when you move to them - back it up first. :-)

*** Hey, put that "subscribe to cmments plugin back in" - it makes a huge differnece in the number of comments for a thread.

Have an awesome day!
