When you are forced to create password reminders online, sometimes you’re given suggestions like “What’s your favorite movie/song/actor/fill-in-the-blanks”? I hate those.
I’m not a big fan of favorites because something that’s a favorite today can quickly be replaced with another new favorite. It’s also hard to pick favorites. What if I like them all or like a whole bunch of stuff with no clear winner? That’s kinda my dilemma when asked which are my three favorite posts here at Sparkplugging.
I mean this place is a vast resource of solid information. It’s almost impossible to put one post above another – we also have a lot of good writers here. The following list is not exactly a favorite list but definitely posts that have stood out in my eyes.
Hi, and I’m a PC by Nick Bostic.
I’m not a Mac fan girl nor am I a PC junkie. There are both systems in my household although PC’s outnumber Macs here. It really doesn’t matter to me what you use as long as it helps you achieve your business (and personal) goals. That should be the first and foremost consideration. Last I looked, both help you do that. Mac owners aren’t necessarily more successful than PC owners and vice versa. So yeah, I do get my feathers ruffled when Mac elites kinda hold that Mac snobbery over my head or try to make me feel less smart for ‘being a PC’. I feel Nick has verbalized my feelings well.
Are you thinking like an entrepreneur by Leslie Truex.
I couldn’t agree more. Having an employee mindset is a big problem for entrepreneurs. It took me a long time to get over that toxic mindset. Plus… I think I’m going to catch hell for this. It’s also one reason why I see some bloggers complain about not being offered payment to run a contest for companies. Look, there’s nothing wrong with wanting to be paid to do something, but you’re not working for them. You’re working for yourself. Don’t expect someone to voluntarily offer you payment just because you have a big traffic blog. Everyone is trying to get the best deal for the least amount or no amount of money. Think in terms of products and services. Create a service around these promotions. Name your terms, what you would do, what you won’t do and what’s your price. Link to it and display your products proudly – that’s the difference between an entrepreneur and someone with an employee mindset.
Three all important questions for you by Kelly McCausey.
Kelly has this thing about asking the right questions. E-v-e-r-y-t-i-m-e. Questions that make you think, questions that are specific, appropriate, goes to the heart of the problem and… sometimes, questions that give you a good (but needed) kick in the butt. I’m happy to report that I wake up excited almost every day, do things I love all day long and go to bed content. The only thing I am not happy about is I have to go to bed!
So there, those are the posts that caught my attention recently. What are yours?
