How to Future Post in WordPress

Although future posting is really easy, I regularly get requests from people asking how to do it. So I figured I’d throw up a quick post to illustrate how it’s done, so you ALL don’t have to post on weekends like I used to. ;)

In the right hand column of your Create New Post screen look for the Post Timestamp section like this:

Future Post in WordPress

Enter the date you want it to post and be sure to check the box to “Edit Timestamp“, otherwise even if you change the date the post will go live immediately (learned THAT one the hard way!).

Once you hit Publish, you’ll see the post on your main admin screen under Scheduled Entries:

WordPress Scheduled Entries

One thing worthy of note :: the Timestamp option is regulated by the time on your hosting server.  So if your hosting company is in a different time zone, you need to know where they are if you need PRECISE posting times (I don’t). I did use a hosting company who’s servers were in India once – so I had to experiment a bit to get the timing closer to what I wanted.

Happy DAYS OFF from Blogging! ;)

I just postdated 8 blog posts for my upcoming trip…yahoo! :) Now if I can only keep up with email that way.

Whenever I use the Time stamp feature, my Technorati tags do not show up. Has anyone else had this happen?

Great post, I have heard that time stamping and posting just after midnight changes your Google ads to the newer ads that pay more for click. I don’t know if that is the case. I am using time stamp for when I have a great writing day and have more then one post, so I can take a day off!
