Monday MotivationI’m here on my porch, with a bit of a midsummer vacation hangover. I didn’t exactly go out of town last week, but I know a lot of YOU did, judging by the dismal traffic stats for the week. ;)

But this week there’s SO much to do - and this weekend we ARE going out of town. We’ve got our Group Research Project to kick off, I have a Getting Started with WordPress series to write, and of course, I will be dropping everything to go see Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix (you can count on the same for the following week when Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows finally comes out!!)

So we need to be dreaming of getting our stuff done if we are to enjoy our downtime guilt-free. So let’s kick off Monday Motivation right!

Here’s the Monday Motivation drill:

Step 1 - let us know what you are going to get done today (your to-do list, so to speak).

Step 2 - put it in a comment below or a post on your own site.

Step 3 - let us know what will motivate you to get it done - a reward, consequences, or whatever thoughts you need to think that will ensure you do what you say you are going to do.

Now last week, I didn’t get my stuff done - and I didn’t go boating on the 4th of July. (The fact that my husband was also sick meant that the rest of the family didn’t go, either!! :( ). But admitting that to you is painful enough to make me want to do better, so here’s what I am throwing down this week:

Today I will

  • Muck through 330 emails
  • Do four loads of laundry
  • Launch the Group Research Project
  • Do admin work on my authors project
  • Research upgrading Akismet (and do it if possible)
  • Do rough draft of business plan outline / presentation

By Thursday night, I will also:

  • Do everything on my This Week To Do List
  • Go to TechCocktail
  • Have my first draft business plan / presentation completed
  • Meditate twice

If I don’t complete these things by this time, I will go without coffee for a week (a particularly effective threat to my sanity and productivity!)

So what are you going to get done today?

Just finished the nastiest part of today; a 25-minute phone call on behalf of my favorite client. With people who: Just. Don’t. Get. It.

Will also finish up a creative project, and look for shoes for a daughter’s job interview.

And work on dinner before dinnertime!

Not bad for a Monday, eh?

Well I think I’ll have a steady evening. I’ll write an article for one of my sites about the relationship of Tai Chi and bone strength, and its role in the prevention of osteoporosis. Then I’ll prepare a site for directory submission. And as it’s 94 degrees here, if I don’t do it then its no biggie; but if its not done by Wednesday then it’s another $25 for Kiva I guess!

As always my Monday is almost over, so forgive me but this will be my Tuesday motivation instead.

At work:
Start working on the roadmap for the Citrix concept
Finish the SMS(texting)-test-project

At home:
Make some more viral marketing for my FIFA 2008 news blog
Write for Wendy’s group project
Decide whether I should buy an iPod or Creative Zen Vision M (My toughest dilemma in a long time)

If I don’t decide by tomorrow, I won’t be able to get it whatever I pick until next week (eeek)

Oh and yes. Saturday is Harry Potter-day ;) I can’t wait to see the movie.
