Monday MotivationOh, I haven’t done Monday Motivation for the last two weeks and today I will be paying severely for it - with 400 emails in my inbox that more than likely require a response - YIKES!

It’s days like today that I need Monday Motivation most of all - where nothing but the severe pain of my own self-imposed consequences will get me to do the stuff I really don’t want to do. In fact, I’d rather be cleaning my house, doing yardwork, or scrubbing the bathroom rather than wading through 400 emails. It’s that bad. ;)

For those of you new to MM, here’s the lowdown:

Step 1 - let us know what you are going to get done today (your to-do list, so to speak).

Step 2 - put it in a comment below or a post on your own site.

Step 3 - let us know what will motivate you to get it done - a reward, consequences, or whatever you need to think that will ensure you do what you say you are going to do. I’ve found that the public announcement and accountability is a particularly great motivator, but throw down consequences if you really need a kick in the pants to get stuff done!

Step 4 - Be sure to think about this long-term as well as what you’re going to accomplish today. How will what you do today help you get to where you want to go?

Today before I go to sleep I will:

  1. Clean out my inbox *sigh - there, I said it*
  2. Clean my bathroom (I reserve the right to give this lovely task to my daughter ;))
  3. Do three loads of laundry
  4. Package up two things to mail
  5. Email two potential advertisers

If I don’t get this stuff done by the time I said I would, I will go without coffee for the week AND give an additional $100 to Kiva for the month.

So what are you going to get done today?!

Good idea Wendy

I was going to defer this until next week as it just gone 5pm, but before I go to sleep tonight I shall

-Get my ironing done
-Finally publish my blog article (that has surprisingly taken me 2 weeks to do!)

The second one can whistle but if I do not do the second one you have my OK to embarrass me publicly.

Sorry I mean the first one can whistle.

I will not write things in a hurry.

I love your Monday Motivation posts, Wendy! I’ve decided to post these regularly on my blog too, though with a slight twist. I’m posting my to do list for the week (it’ll hopefully help me out a little bit more, because otherwise I’d have to do a Monday Motivation post every day of the week, lol).

So, my whole to do list is here: http://wahwebmommy.com/?p=51

Hmmm… now what will my consequence or reward be, though? I didn’t think it through that far, lol.

You know, it’s been a while since I took a nice relaxing soak in the tub! And since cleaning the house is one of the things I need to get done this week, I should have a nice shiny bathtub by Friday.

So, I think my reward for getting everything done this week will be a little ME time… a long relaxing bath with a glass of wine should be nice. :)

I found your blog a while ago and have really enjoyed it. I am always surprised when people have 400 e-mails to deal with. I can say I’ve never had anything close to that! I’m “lucky” if I get 30 within a few days lol. Are these from your readers? Family and friends? Everyone, I imagine. That’s wild. Good luck!
Again, love your blog :)

Well, I’m a little behind schedule today thanks to some lightheadedness, but I think I’m back in the saddle. Still, I might not push myself too hard for the rest of the day.

1. Post for Blog #1
2. Post for Blog #2
3. Post for Blog #3
4. Resize JL project
5. Put away laundry
6. Go to birthing class

That should be good, since I only have a few hours before class.

If I don’t accomplish these things, I will write a post about what a lazy beast I am and out myself to all my readers. (Now there’s some motivation!)

I love the title, I might borrow it for my 3 weeks without a Monday Motivational Saying for next Monday. It is now Thursday here in Australia, and I am finally surfacing and ready to get that first blog post up, so hard when you get out of the groove.

I make the following commitment , that by next monday I will have redirected all my email to my gmail account, so travelling is simpler. I know how 400 emails feels and looks like. i also commit to unsubscribe from the lists, etc thaT distract me.
