Monday Motivation :: Get Things Done Today!

Monday MotivationUgh. Back from a wonderful three day weekend and I REALLY need some motivation to get my day in gear!

As I put out fires, dig out of emails and try to stay on top of everything, I’m here to help us all be a little more productive today with Monday Motivation.

So what the heck is Monday Motivation?

Step 1 – let us know what you are going to get done today (your to-do list, so to speak).

Step 2 – put it in a comment below or a post on your own site.

Step 3 - let us know what will motivate you to get it done – a reward, consequences, or whatever thoughts you need to think that will ensure you do what you say you are going to do.

Last week, for the second week in a row, I didn’t get my stuff done because I  overcommitted myself. And I paid dearly with no coffee for a week (man, did my cup taste good this morning!!!).  This week I won’t make the same mistake, so I will commit today to:

  • Clean out my inbox of 134 emails (I already cleaned out 125+)
  • Do two loads of laundry
  • Create one ad
  • Invoice two clients

If I don’t get these done by the time I go to bed tonight, I will go without any sweets for the next week (not that I eat them that much anyway, but when I do, I really can’t stand feeling deprived if I tell myself no!!).

So what are you going to get done today?

As always my Monday is almost over, so tomorrow I will work from home and I have to complete:

1. Get a client to test a new solution and hopefully bring an end to that project.
2. Start working on a roadmap
3. Update my fifa 2008 blog with some amazon goodies
4. Write a post on thebetanews

Now if I don’t do this I too will go without sweet for an entire week, on the other hand if I do this I will reward myself with a brand new Logitech mouse, MX Revolution.

Well, my Monday is almost over but I did accomplish everything I wanted to do today! I made my sales calls, worked with my assistants on a couple of client’s needs and continued my internet research for companies who may need my company’s services. I feel really good about what I accomplished today so I will look forward to doing more of the same (but never the same!) tomorrow! ~Sandra

I started my new job at Bold Interactive today – so my main goal is to settle into the job.

My other tasks are catching up on blog posts for Classic Movie Lounge and the Guest Blogger blog. Work on affiliate marketing for GB blog and write the copy for my affiliate marketing-only site i finally set up.

If I don’t – then I can’t check google analytics for a week. WHAT?! Woah! :)

I don’t have a blog yet, so I hope I can participate.

I have some online work, some research to do for articles I’m planning, and to watch some videos I’ve downloaded.

I doubt I’ll get it ALL done today, but I’m going to give it a try. :)

years ago in an effort to establish business practices with a new in-home business, a 6 and 3 year old, and as a single mom. I decided to officially allow Monday to be Monday. To have it be a day that isn’t quite a work day. On Monday I don’t want to be immersed just yet. I gave my self permission to not schedule anything out of the home, not schedule phone appts, and best of all have it be an official pajama day. I use Mondays to schedule my week, to confirm appts already on the calendar, to do all my planning. I use it also to wear the many hats that I have ( that we as moms all seem to have ) I use it as a writing day. I churn out alot of my writing on Monday’s. By the end of Monday I feel set and ready to rock. I know what to expect for the week. If the Monday is manic – who cares,I’ve got my pajama’s on, I can go back to bed!! P.S.Monday’s are also pasta night – i don’t feel like ” really cooking ” yet either. However my menu planning for the rest of the week is usually done on Monday too

Hi Wendy,
I posted this to your Akismet post, but I was way late to the party. So, I’m reposting it here:

Hi Wendy,
I was getting sometimes 1000 spam comments a day (does health care just attract that sort of thing?)

And 3-5 pretty horrible comments would make it past Akismet too.

I noticed that virtually ALL Spam Comments were on VERY old posts. So I started shutting off comments on the oldest posts.

I found a plug-in called, Comment Time-out that shuts off comments after a set period of time.

And, Spam comments have almost completely stopped (I’m down to maybe 1-3 a day)

I set the time to 2 weeks, but it could be set to anytime.

I can’t recommend anything more highly.

Well, I knocked out all of the accounting work that needed to be done, plus designed a postcard to be mailed.

I’d have to say my motivation of late is just the feeling I get from having it finished. And recognizing the difference between what *needs* to be done vs what *could* get done has helped me a lot too. I’m on a big simplification kick right now!

No coffee for a week? Are you insane? I guess I’m just glad you survived it…
