Monday MotivationWelcome to Monday Motivation everyone - the kick start to the week fueled by my desperate need for focus my desire to help everyone get a productive start to their week! ;)

I’ll be honest with you - these last few weeks have been extremely busy as I have launched the two new blogs and prepared for SOBCon - and some really important things have been blown off.

So let’s instead make this Motivation Week.

However you want to play along, please do - let’s just make this the most productive week of all time, shall we?

The premise of Monday Motivation is simple - tell everyone (on your blog or in a comment below) what you plan on getting done. Then let us know what is your motivation for getting it done.
For me, the public announcement usually is enough accountability. But for long to-do lists, I like to throw in a little leverage - consequences - if I don’t get my stuff done. Some people prefer to give themselves a reward - whatever works for you, works for Monday Motivation!

But since I’m behind, I challenge myself and all of you to be motivated and productive from now through Friday.

I’ll throw down a big list, with big consequences. If I can do it, you can too!

Monday

  • Create ultimate to do list of All Things Procrastinated
  • Do 20 minutes of self-coaching (I’m feeling guilty for procrastinating and that is taking up too much of my energy!!)
  • Write three blog posts
  • Clean out inbox ["only" 213 items this week!]
  • Get plans set to meet up with my new best buddy Lorelle of Wordpress fame while she is still in town

Tuesday

  • Hopefully meet up with Lorelle if we can make it work
  • 3 things off of my All Things Procrastinated list
  • Write three blog posts

Wednesday

  • Spend one hour gathering and organizing tax records
  • 3 things off of my All Things Procrastinated list
  • Write two blog posts

Thursday

  • Figure out how to post the video of my SOBCon presentation and spend an hour on editing and cleaning up the footage (or on learning how to do that!!)
  • 3 things off of my All Things Procrastinated list
  • Write three blog posts

Friday

  • Go to my first-grader’s school picnic lunch
  • 3 things off of my All Things Procrastinated list
  • Write three blog posts

By the end of the week I will also have the following done [note I am committing to balance this week, too!]:

  • Meditate three times
  • Walk to school at least two times
  • 1 date night with my awesome hubby

If I don’t have all of this done by the time I go to bed on Saturday night, I will PayPal $50 to 5 random regular readers.

So, what are you going to get done this week?! :D

Basically, what you just did was give me a reason to distract you. I will be very ambitious in my attempt to sabotage your work week. The $50 will be mine.

I’m flying to Northern Ireland on Saturday to spend a week with my family.

On Wednesday of next week I’m heading to Dublin with my bro and two friends to catch a Dave Matthews Band gig. Should be good!

Good luck getting through this week, Wendy! ;)

Wow it is now my turn to feel inadequate yikes. Well I will have to really think about this and post later on. I am still working through your blogging ecourse. It has actually been great to do that and a lot of fun.

1. Email my boss and hope she’s “cool with it”

2. Four hours devoted to histories project

3. 20 phone calls made re: students

4. Walk around the neighborhood

If I don’t get these things done, I will dig 100 dandelions out of the back yard tomorrow. (If I do get these things done, I might still dig 100 dandelions, but I’ll at least have the option of skipping it!)

As a hubby, my vote for most important to-do is the date night Wendy! :)

Awesome to meet you at SOBCon and I look forward to reading/watching what you’ve experienced.

Oh plus I tend to be pretty “random” at times so if you don’t complete all this stuff in time, you can always PayPal a little my way (random reader, get it, haha). :)

This week I am going to get my @#$%^ inbox empty of all pre-May 14 emails and my desktop free of the many “notes” files or else I will stay off the Internet from Friday evening till next Monday night at midnight.

@ Alex - I’ve very good at plugging my ears (and turning off IM!) ;)

@ David - we’ll miss you while you’re gone - have a WONDERFUL trip!

@ Joe - please, NO inadequacy allowed around here! The only way I can get this much stuff done is if I have all of you wonderful readers watching me! You hold me accountable and make me want to raise my standards just by showing up! :D

@ Lorna - that’s some really good leverage. In my yard it’s more like 1000. I think I might use your idea next week!

@ Jason - do you have a post up about this new time management system? If not, I wanna hear all about it!!!

@ Dennis - I am SO glad you saved that comment - whew!!! And of COURSE your comments are appreciated around here! DUH! ;)

Also - you’ve got quite the list going on there. We should meet up at the end of the week and have a virtual toast to each other to celebrate such a productive week!

Anyone else want to join us? :D

@ Easton - You were one of the people I was MOST looking forward to meet. I was THRILLED that you were able to be there and I look forward to being blogging buddies for a long time to come! (HUGS)

Actually - HUGS to all!!!

Yeah, SOBCon was very, very huggy. I’m still in hug mode.

Can’t. Stop. Hugging.

Well now that is one hefty penalty! At least in my book!I am thinking my goal this week will be to get ready with some goals for next Monday!
Actually I am busy doing the ten day blog improvement course.. so getting my 30 day goal list done this week seems like a reasonable goal along with getting the kids to do all their school work (homeschooling!)I think that will do for now!

I have such a long list that I will post the most important item (my frog) here:

I commit to spending 30 minutes M-T-W-Th-F on my prior learning portfolio that I need to complete for my degree. This is something that I have continued to procrastinate on and if I can work on it just 1/2 each day this week, then I know that it will be much easier to finish. I just need to start it.

If I do not stick to my commitment this week, then I vow to give away 10 of my most cherished books (hey, I’ll definitely get it done, in fact I’ll start on today’s half hour now!) ;)

Thanks for the challenge Wendy!

@ Denise - Homeschooling?! How do you do ANYTHING else?! :)

@ JoLynn - THAT’S some hefty leverage! Yikes! Please get your stuff done! :D

Wendy, count me in for the toast on Sunday. It would be my pleasure. I see no more fitting way than to end this week with a toast ;)

Wendy, you are such an inspiration, I don’t know how to keep up! Here is my usual visit to your Monday Motivation…Tuesday morning! I spent the day off with 2 of my 3 kids yesterday, on a dr’s appt (& some fun!), so I am way behind — haven’t even collected & sorted the laundry yet (SO sexy)! I’m staring down Summer Vacation ahead: only 9 school days left…

Question: How do you accomplish anything business-related during Summer Vacation with the kids home from school???

(Which is strange, because somehow I made it through the first five years with each child at home before they started school, and now it seems completely overwhelming!)

Have a great week!

This week I am working on getting the free blogs off of pajama mommy out (unfortunately as I cannot buy a server for it I get to do it all by hand until some fabulous person decides to sponsor the pajama mommy community so i can turn it into web2.0)

Trying to find places to partner with Pajama Mommy to expand its horizons and visitors. And basically find people to join its forums :( they could be really good if people weren’t slackers

Hi Wendy,

I’d just like to report that I actually spent 30 minutes on my project last night, although I procrastinated after commenting here! I did get my time in though, and it’s a very big thing for me to get started on this.

I still need to get in my 1/2 hour today. I’m so glad I read your post yesterday and committed to this challenge, it’s very important that I get this project completed. ;)

Thanks Wendy!

Wow GP, I’d like to trade places with you, too! I always wanted a horse when I was growing up. My parents let me get a hamster instead. (LOL, it’s true!) :)

Wendy, I’m heading down to the wine cellar to get the virtual Bollinger ready for the toast on Sunday. Do you want the Vieille Vignes Françaises or the R.D. (récemment dégorgé)? I would go with the first its the prestige cuvee ;) The only question is how many are joining us? ;)

21. On May 17th, 2007 at 3:33 pm, Wendy Piersall said:

WWWwwwwwwoooooooowwwwww! Embarassingly, I buy the cheap wine in boxes. ;)

Let’s go with your recommendation of the “prestige cuvee”!

Are you getting your stuff done?! I’m painfully drudging through all of it! :D

Well I’ve made around 8,50$ on Adsense until now, so I thought I’d spend it on all wine. I don’t even think it is enough to get your tongue wet ;)

Yeah my tasks are looking great. Today was a holiday in Denmark and I have tomorrow off, so I might even get more done.

See comment #7 above (hey by the way, never thought of that before but I think it’s really cool that you have all the comments numbered Wendy!) … here’s a screenshot of my EMPTY INBOX, YESSS!

Had like 80 emails in there this morning. Yes, I get tons of spam every day. And yes, I have a few drafts to send out. And yes, some starred-but-archived emails. But the inbox is clear - sigghhh.

Oh plus my desktop is clean too!
