I’ve never hidden the fact that I really don’t like my Monday Motivation tradition. I like going through piles of email even less. But I’ve gotten to the point that I dislike it so much that I’ve decided there has got to be a better way to kick off my week.
But the real and wonderful reason I know I am going to pull this off is because I have a new VA who is infinitely better at responding to emails than I am. @JerseyMomma, I
you!
But before I say Sayonara for good, I need one last push to clean out my inbox. Between being out of town for BlogHer and launching SparkplugU, my email situation has never been more bleak.
Try 747 emails. Hurl.
So let’s usher out Monday Motivation with a bang, shall we?
Step 1 - let us know what you are going to get done today, tomorrow, or this week (your to-do list, so to speak).
Step 2 - put it in a comment below or a post on your own site.
Step 3 - let us know what will motivate you to get it done - a reward, consequences, or whatever you need to think that will ensure you do what you say you are going to do. I’ve found that the public announcement and accountability is a particularly great motivator, but throw down consequences if you really need a kick in the pants to get stuff done! Unless, of course, you are working towards a new laptop too, in which case I think the reward is particularly motivating.
This week I will commit to:
I quite literally can’t face 747 749 emails in one day. So I am going to promise that every day I’ll knock off 150 emails from my ‘balance’ - including all of the emails that come in daily. I’m not sure that I’ll get much else done this week, actually!
So by the end of these days I will have this many emails left in my inbox:
Monday: 600
Tuesday: 450
Wednesday: 300
Thursday: 150
Friday: 0!!
If I don’t get all of this done by the end of the week, I will give one lucky Monday Motivation participant a 6 month pass to any class they want to take on SparkplugU.
So all you have to do to be in the running for this SparkplugU 6-Month Pass is to leave a comment or write a post with what you are committing to getting done this week before Thursday July 24. (I might just give away the pass anyway… wink.)
So what are you going to get done this week?
PS - Our first SparkplugU class launches tonight with Kelly McCausey’s Podcasting Bootcamp. If you want to register for this class and you happen to win at the end of the week, I’ll refund your registration fee!

Wow Wendy, I’m so grateful I don’t (yet) get quite so many emails in my inbox as you do. I don’t envy you the task at all.
My Monday Motivation was to get all the “staycation” laundry done in order to be prepared for work tomorrow. Not only did I get all the laundry done, but I/we still had the entire afternoon to go swimming and relax a bit more since today is the last day of our staycation. Our fun afternoon was reward all on its own.

I hope you get rid of your bees!
This week I will finish new product photos and listings on Etsy. I also plan on writing three extra blog articles to keep on standby for when I’m totally blocked. I am completely unblocked this week and should bank some of it for later.

I have a busy week ahead of me so I’m going to leave a comment here AND post it on my personal blog for my whopping 30 readers to witness.
This week I have 4 client projects I will get done:
1) research
2) article submissions
3) press release
4) press release revision
Plus I have 3 blog designs to finish.
Personal stuff:
1) Blogging! I have 3 reviews and a giveaway to do this week.
2) Set up my vision board
3) Send out Wish Upon a Hero items
That oughta keep me busy. And if I get it all done, I will have a “pajama party” with the kids. (That’s where we make a bed out of blankets and pillows in the living room, pop popcorn and watch movies til we fall asleep.)

Thank you for the incentive to get motivated this week!

I feel that it’s a great idea to get some motivation on a blue Monday (it’s Tuesday for me here)
Anyway here is my going to get done list for this week. Will post it on my personal blog also.
- clear up the shelves in the study
- write at least 5 articles for my parenting blog
I think that’s managable for this week
Tuesday here too .. I need to:
- write a newsletter
- complete research in one area
- upgrade to WP2.6 on all my blogs and
- finish the design for one site.
And the school holidays start tomorrow.
If I get this all done this week, I’ll be amazed, but I’ll also reward myself and the children with a trip to the cinema (big deal here in the country).
Congratulations and thank you for launching SparkplugU. I signed up and attended the Podcasting course last night and I’m glad I did.
If my future gardening podcast gets popular, perhaps I’ll have 747 emails to answer too.

How is it that email just grows. I have taken to archiving each weekend, and then it grows in a day or so. As this has been an issue since I started commenting over here on MM, I no longer stress about it. What I will do by Thursday is set a time twice a day to clear the emails. I will also unsubscribe from any blogs I get email from and put them in my reader
And TO Dos For This week:
Mindmap amd daily blog post for my 45 Day challenge at Boundless living where I have a 30 years in the making book to publish and launch at Blog World Expo in September.
When I have done this this week I will treat myself to some pampering
Thanks Wendy for MM lt has been great and I understand sometime we have to move on
What a shame to say goodbye to Monday motivation, for one thing it introduced me to Kiva
Guess you’re gonna need a bigger email inbox!
