I know many of you out there are going to be interested in this one. BlogHer is launching a new phase of their ad network, BlogHerAds, in which bloggers can get paid to run ads served by BlogHer advertisers. The unofficial beta launched last Thursday, but links are still not quite yet up and running.
BlogHerAds isn’t new - the NEW PART is that they are opening up the network to a far larger circle of eligible blogs. Yippie!
Currently, they are taking applications to join - so obviously there are some criteria to meet before being accepted into the program (I checked - there are some quality standards in place, but easily met if you are a serious blogger that posts regularly… just not that posts spam regularly
). They state on the site:
“In May 2006, we launched a premium advertising network in partnership with 30+ superb bloggers. The resulting demand by bloggers and advertisers who want to participate led us to take this next step: Launching BlogHerAds and opening our ad network to application by everyone.”
Stay tuned!

It sounds like an exciting program. I probably don’t get enough traffic for them to be interested in me yet — but I’ll apply, if only for the practice. . .
Thanks for the heads up, Wendy! I’ve applied for one of my blogs; I’m not sure I publish on that one often enough for them, but it’s worth a shot!
Thanks for the info! I am interested, although I am a ClubMom affiliate and have their ads on my blog so I’m not sure if I qualify?
Hi…katiebird: traffic is not one of the criteria. (Although higher traffic means higher revenue.)
Sarah: It can’t be an abandoned blog, but it doesn’t have to be posted in daily.
Jamie: BlogHer ads have to be the only graphic ads above the fold.
All: if you start the application process and download the affiliate contract you can get all the nitty gritty details on criteria and requirements like those above.
Come check it out!!
Thanks Wendy!
Thanks for dropping by Elisa. There’s a lot of excitement around what you are doing with BlogHerAds - which until now has been a little difficult to attain for the smaller blogger. I both applaud you and can’t wait to watch how it all plays out. I imagine it will be quite successful for both BlogHer and your network.
Once you are a little more established, perhaps you can consider putting together a referral program to have us bloggers in the trenches help you recruit (nudge nudge, wink wink)
Elisa — thanks so much for the information. I filled out my application last night, now I’m at the FAX stage. I’ll get that printed out and FAXed in before the end of the day.
I’m pretty excited, too.
And Wendy, I’m with you — I’d like and referral program…
