It’s all too common for people to think that sales are instant. In reality, on information heavy sites people often make a number of visits before they make any purchases. Ed puts the argument well that there is a chain of events converting the visitor to the subscriber to the purchaser.

Hi again, Edward. I have a follow-up question. I have set up Aweber (I don't need the shopping cart but did look at 1ShoppingCart), I added 2 ways for visitors to join the mailing list and announced a free information pack in a post just this evening. But, then I wondered..."Did Edward mean that I should pay for traffic after I do this even though my services aren't ready?" LOL I'm not sure if you fully answered the question. I expect a 6/1 launch date (I hope!), so do I wait or perhaps pay for some text ads on google, now? A 125x125 ad here or there? What do you suggest? Thanks, again!

Thank you, Edward! This was very helpful and gave me a great next step. I'll put your advice to work. I'm sure I will have more questions as I get going too. ;)

@Kevin: Sometimes it's easy to get ahead of ourselves and make things a bit more complicated than they need to be. I'm a firm believer in the K.I.S.S approach (Keep It Simple Stupid/Silly) even though I don't always remember to put it into practice! ;)

I really like what you said here: convert visitors to subscribers, and then convert subscribers to customers. Sometimes things just become a lot simpler and clearer when you know a good intermediate step to connect the short-term and long-term goals.
