As a child of the eighties, I was a huge fan of “Punky Brewster”, played by Soleil Moon Frye. Thanks to this hit show, about a little girl abandoned by her parents and adopted by a widower, women all over the world have fond memories of wearing pig tails and rainbow-colored socks.
So who is the actress behind the title character of “Punky Brewster”? She’s an enterprising business woman for one. But she’s also a mom, a champion for the environment, and is still in the film business doing voice work for shows like “Bratz”, directing features including “Sonny Boy”, and being a guest star on various television shows like ”Entertainment Tonight” as well as VH-1’s “I Love the 80’s”. Who does she pal around with in Hollywood?  Melissa Joan Hart is known to be one of her good friends.  Also, her and Demi Moore share the superlative of most likely to not get Punk’d considering their husbands, Jason Goldberg and Ashton Kutcher, executive produced the show.
In 2007, after the birth of her daughter, Poet, Soleil partnered with Paige Tolmach to open the The Little Seed in Los Angeles. Along with the desire to find organic and safe products for her daugher, Soleil’s involvement with the Environmental Media Association drove her passion to provide eco-friendly items for mothers everywhere. And now she does via The Little Seed store and online at www.thelittleseed.com.
Those who visit The Little Seed are greeted by walls painted with low V.O.C. paint and take away their fabulously non-toxic finds in reusable shopping bags. Moms will love the kid-friendly amenities including a diaper changing station and a nursing lounge.
So what’s the moral of the story here? Soleil Moon Frye took her passion for the environment and the love of her children, Poet and new addition to the family, Jagger, and combined them to make a difference.  Soleil mentions on her blog that The Little Seed is “a true labor of love.”
