Welcome to the SparkBits Tuesday Edition!

SOBCon Live this Weekend

Michelle Vandepas will be broadcasting live from SOBCon this weekend on her Live Your Purpose radio show. Hopefully I’ll be able to buzz in and say hi (if she’ll let me! ;) ).

BlogHerBuzz08 Begins!

I like to joke around with Megan Jordan from Velveteen Mind because she HATES writing list posts. She may be missing out on some serious linkbait, but she sure knows how to create buzz even when there are no top-ten lists to be found. Megan is co-hosting a pre-BlogHer Party with IzzyMom, motherbumper, One Plus Two, The Bloggess, and Oh, the Joys! on July 17th. See you there!!

Inspiration

If you’ve been on the fence about boarding the entrepreneurial train, go read this now! Hats off to Bob Younce for his fantastic and inspirational post When Your Best Just isn’t Good Enough. *Sigh*. Been there. Done that. LOVED this, Bob!

Manage a Web Development Project

Selene Bowlby wrote a fantastic, thorough article on the 6 Phases of the Web Site Design & Development Process, covering Information Gathering, Planning, Design, Development, Testing and Delivery, and Maintenance. It’s definitely one to bookmark for later, as evidenced by the fact she has done extremely well on del.icio.us with this post!

Still Stuck in Your Day Job?

This may be an older post, but I have to say it’s probably the best one I have ever seen written on how to convince your boss to let you telecommute. Mark Shead is a great writer and I can attest to the fact that he is right on the money with his advice.

Here’s Another Way out of that Day Job!

Joe Hauckes from Working at Home on the Internet has launched a Work at Home Job Board - and yes, he screens the submissions! I’ve wanted to do this for a long time - glad to see Joe taking the lead as it’s a much needed service!

If you have a post you’d like to have included in SparkBits, please tag the post “for:sparkplugging” on del.icio.us or follow me on Twitter, because I put out calls for links over there. :)

Wendy, Are you kidding? I’d be HONORED to have you on the radio!.. I’m adding several live remotes during the weekend, and hope to be able to give an overview of what’s happening as well as comments and input from attendees. And of course I hope to enjoy the conference as well. Anyone who wants to call in or listen can find the updates on the link above. Thanks again! Michelle

Hey Wendy,
Thanks for helping spread the word about the Job Board, I think it could be a boost to people looking to find something they can do from home and make a living. :-)
Oh, and I have an offer for Potential Employers, One Month Free Listings if they contact me using you as a referral. :-)
Thanks, Joe

Thanks for the link, Wendy. That post seems to have resonated with quite a few folks, actually. I’m glad you found it useful!

Wendy, for a moment I was worried…I thought I landed on the wrong page. I see the color theme is quite different than the older version. Other than that… I like the new layout :)

Wendy, perhaps I’ll get to meet you, then, if you’re going to BlogHer! I’m scheduled to be in the US and be a volunteer at the conference - looks like another party to head to! :)

Thanks for the link, Wendy!

I find that lots of people don’t quite know what to expect when they are building a web site (especially for the first time). I hope this article helps with that!
