Yesterday we asked Sparkplugging Readers:
“What’s your impression of the economy as it has been affecting your business over the last months?”
This is what you told us:
- 14% – I’m rockin’ it – no worries here.
- 26% – I’m seeing distinct signs of improvement.
- 23% – I’m still feeling it but it’s not as bad as it used to be.
- 35% – It really stinks and I’m suffering.
I purposefully chose to highlight the positive in my title for this blog post, but it’s impossible to ignore that 35% of our readers indicate that they’re suffering.
Your thoughts? Anybody want to share where they’re at?

I was one of the 35%. Honestly, I was a bit on the negative side yesterday. But, all in all, I’d say my business isn’t as far along as I hoped it would be in June of 2006. lol
My BIGGEST struggle is with the “patience” part. I’m usually all over the place, no focus, because I try something and it doesn’t work that hour. I’m doing better, and the better I do, the more I see in the way of results.
Well 35% is a a lot but (thinking optimistically) 65% are doing ok or expecting/feeling improvement.
I got to b optimistic – geez. Its hard enough – certainly in my industry and moping around aint go to help me!
I do think the worst is over though
One thing I have learned this last month:
Focus, Focus, Focus.
If you do that, you’ll do great. I bet you that most of the people who have stated they are not doing that well, can actually trace the fault back to themselves.
I know I sure can!
I have been more focused lately than I have for YEARS and consequently I am doing GREAT. I am very excited about the future.
I agree with the comment above I also think the worst is over maybe i’m being a bit premature but the housing market here seems to be moving up again (slowly but its progress) banks are making a profit again etc etc.
I would put myself in the 26% section!
I believe there is opportunity in a recession and that one has to really work hard and he/she will eventaully get to reap the rewards
The recession is a tough time for everyone, but it is a good time to get leaner and plan for the future.
