Very appropriate thought, Wendy. The only time I have ever really been moved in my short blogging career was a time I left an innocuous little “cheer up” comment to a fellow blogger who seemed to be going through a pretty rough patch.

I receive the most heartfelt email from of all people, his dad, thanking me and telling me how I would never know how much that little message of encouragement meant at the time he received it. This guy wasn’t a kid, wasn’t a close friend or anything, but apparently he was much lower than I imagined and my little vote of encouragement meant much. much more than it seemed to to me. You just never know for sure how a kind word can help … and hey … they are free, what could it cost versus what it could mean.

I talk a lot about ROI meaning it in the sense of dollars and cents, but real ROI can mean so much more. Thanks for a timely and thoughtful post.

Yeah, I’m kinda with Alienatu on that number three jobber! That’s something our parents used to tell us when we were in school to make us feel better. There are people out there, albeit very few, that I truly despise, but am quite certain it’s not because I want to be like them.

As for getting teary eyed? You just made me think of ONE more reason why working at home is so great! No mascara runs!

Once in a while a forward captures my attention too. It’s not so weird
