I have my green card now, but yeah, before getting my work permit, apparently I couldn't so much as hold a yard sale. Of course, who could say it wasn't my husband taking the income? There are ways around it I'm sure.

Used to be an artist... can you ever entirely stop being an artist, really? ;)

Brooke - you are so right - and I should have thought of that myself because I used to be an artist (well before the blogging era!!).

Interesting situation that you can't earn income here yet - can't you just claim it as a Canadian citizen?? I'd be curious to hear how it goes, because one of my best friends is engaged to a Canadian woman himself, and they will likely face some of the same obstacles.

Thanks for dropping by and welcome :)

Hey Wendy, I'm getting a lot out of your blog and really enjoy your writing style. I have another type of blog to add to the list, similar to a photography blog but a bit different - the artist's blog.

I think there are some unique ways an artist/designer can make money - ie: the likes of cafepress-type stores, straightforward art-selling, etc. - all of which I'm playing around with in my head while I await my US work permit. I can't earn any income till I have it (I'm a Canadian who's just married an American and moved to the US, hence the situation), so I have the luxury of really thinking all this out, but at the same time, I know some trial and error is inevitable, thus I'm anxious to get on with it!).

Anyway, I too am looking very much forward to your book! :)

Hey Wendy,
I've visited your blog a few times now from Problogger and from search engines and I just want to say great work. I love the organized layout of our blog posts and the amount of interaction you seem to have built here. Great work!

Nice post as well. I've become more aware of promoting affiliate programs (like with Yaro's post that you mentioned), as my Adsense although it is doing well, just doesn't seem to be performing. An ebook is also something that I would be looking into (in the entrepreneur niche) and I would love to know how it pans out for you.

Good luck - and I'll definitely be adding this site to my list of fav's!

Your book sounds like it will be very interesting and helpful! I try to read ProBlogger every now and again, but usually don't have time. It will be nice to have someone distill his most relevant tips!!

KB - do you do a lot of reading on the subject? You could start a nutrition book review blog - with affiliate links to the books and other helpful resources. You could also try different 'fad' diets and review them as well - most companies have affiliate links for their diet programs too. I know you are going gangbusters with your simple plan of walking water and fiber supplements - but it might be easier to go on a true "diet" if you know you only have to do it for 7-14 days. Just a thought.

I think I know a talented library employee who might be able to help dig up a book or two.... ;)

Wendy, This is a very important subject to me -- I'm quickly approaching my first full year of blogging, but I still feel very much the newbie. As I think about ways to earn some money (even just enough to cover expenses), I get confused.

I've thought through where/how I fit in the blog-universe. And it's not very clear. I mean I know what I WANT it to be, an online discussion group about nutrition & health -- but I'm not sure how that fits within the standard niches. Or if I should even worry about it.

I can't wait to see your book -- I have a feeling it will be VERY useful!
