I work as a freelancer, and without a doubt, the best part is picking my own projects and not having other people tell me what they want me to do. Well, they do tell me what to do to some extent, but I only bid on projects that have plenty of flexibility so that I can do it the right way (read: my way).

the best part to work at home is the time is flexible although it might be overworked and no need to stuck in the traffic..i hate that cause everyday when i go to work, i will caught in the jam for at least half an hour, not matter what time i left my house.

for me, the best part is
1) the time is flexible
2) no need to stuck in the terrible jam in the morning and after work.
3) can spend more time with my family
4) can do what ever i want during the “working hour”

I love working out of my home. It’s nice to be able to cook breakfast for my girls, make their lunches and take a shower between checking emails, paying bills, and researching websites.

Some days I get wild and work in my jammies till noon.

If I need a break I can go walk around the block a couple times.

I’m off on school holidays and weekends.

When I drive into town…it’s actually fun…because I’m not doing it every day!

Plus, with my business, I am creating a free website resource for other moms and their families, to make their lives better and more fun!!

I wouldn’t trade it for anything!

there are a lot of good parts on working at home. the best one would be not to have a boss. i love to work the way i want but a boss always tells me who to work. so the best part is work how much you want.

How about not having to spend a small fortune in GAS!!

I love that when my son is sick (or I am) I don’t have that pit in my stomach, thinking “my boss won’t be happy about me missing another day of work.”

I love having lunch with friends and not having to scurry back to the office.

I love that I WANT to start working on Sunday night!

The best part for me is the fact I am at home and can actually have lunch with my wife. Too often, the only time we have with our spouse is at night when the children are busy with dinner, home work, bathes and getting ready for bed. Being able to spend some quality time with just the two of us at lunch as been great.

Of course I also like the fact I can work when and if I want. And I don’t have to dress up to go to the office. And having a carpet commute is wonderful too.

The working in my pajama’s part speaks to me big time,it’s seemingly such a silly thing, but to me it breaks all the rules about what to wear to work!!

because I am my own boss there really are no rules

I think the other thing I love about working from home is the example it provides for my kids

as a single mom I had to foster some pretty strident income – I wanted to do so with room for the parenting style that was so important to me

in other words I needed lots of flexibility

I created goals and achieved them all within my ideals of a perfect mom day and a perfect working mom day, my kids were a part of every step of my success as a working from home mom

FREEDOM. I have worked at home both as an artist and now as an online entreprenuer ( be as if) and I just love the freedom it gives me. I can work late, get up early. Sitting at my computer looking into the garden, watching the wildlife play. Working together with Des.
Being able to take time out when my niece and great niece come to visit, and friends. Having the choice.

I think the best thing about working from home is the control that you have of your schedule. Like so many others have posted, I like having the flexibility to be their for my friends and family when they need me. It’s also a big time saver to shop during the 9 to 5 hours when everyone else is in the office.

I have to say that when I first started working at home I couldn’t stand it. I felt isolated. I might have also been dealing with some post partum stuff myself. I live in a neighborhood with mostly older folks but it’s now turning around. Only in the last year or so have we started a mom’s group and only in the last couple of months have we started a ‘weekender’ group and my daughter and I had a fun get together this morning while hubby took our son to soccer.

I couldn’t always make the play dates during the week and when I did I felt that since I was also working from home part time trying to launch a business that I was talking on a different plane. The other moms would look at me like I was speaking another language…until I shifted back to stuff about my kids. I did enjoy talking about my kids but…

Now I LOVE working out of my home. I can get a lot done and I make sure to schedule at least 3 meetings per week outside of the home business related or with friends. When I’m home I can do a bit of housework and get uninterrupted work stuff done (my kids are in pre-school). I love the flexibility of being here if one of my kids gets sick. I love that I don’t have to commute (except to drop off kids at school).

I am on Cloud 9 today because Liz Strauss just told me I was an SOB. So I’m in a great, I love everything kind of mood!
