I have a man cave I guess. I have a small room in the basement where I keep all of my tools, saws, and wood working equipment. I go down there when I need some quiet time. There is no place to sit and relax, but then again I don;t like to just sit and relax.

I have been missing something in my life for quite some time. I now know what it is – a place that I can stare into the fire. I remember this concept as part of Mars and Venus. I remember that this is an innate to the human male as eating, drinking and any other human element.

I used to have a cave, but have lost touch with having one. I will begin my rough plans for an alone (not lonely) place very soon.

I have one in progress, the one I’ve mentioned on my blog (http://www.acuminate.net). The pictures are much more up-to-date http://www.smugmug.com/gallery/3933415#273381995_cityH. It currently includes an old couch, a water cooler/mini-fridge, and my computers. It’s actually two man cave’s in one.

Half of the building is my office where I work. It will soon include a flat screen TV for movies and Wii. I’m working on adding a deck to the front of it for some grilling and friendly gatherings.

The other half is a shop. I store all my tools there and work on building projects, such as the building itself.

Both halves are a good place to relax and get out of the house for a bit.

My brother has an AV room set up at his house, complete with 5.1 sound system, projector, white screen, air conditioned, reclinable seats.

I, on the other hand, wouldn’t mind just a small-ish room, with a desk I can plonk my computer equipment, big enough for a printer, maybe a second screen, shelves where I can store stuff (discs, peripherals), perhaps a set of speakers, broadband.

My ideal man cave would be a room that I could go in to listen to my music, write and smoke the occasional pipe (tobacco, don’t worry…) or cigar to unwind.

What would it look like? Shoot…. at this point I’d take a new Port-O-Potty. =)
