Rudy makes me weep like a baby, every time. Ditto "Brian's Song" and a host of others.

I get misty-eyed every single time the Star-Spangled Banner is played in the Olympics too, even if it's a sport I know or care nothing about.

[...] Throughout your child’s life, you will undoubtedly be given numerous opportunities to witness the moral development of your child.
I cry every year on opening day... and at various points throughout baseball season... simply because I am so darn happy!!!

I also cry at the movies... during some TV commercials... and when I hear certain songs...

Yes, I am a sissy. But at least I cry over baseball!

Great post!

I did, when my favorite baseball team in Taiwan won their first championship in team history. I started when I was little, back in 1992, when they were consistently among the worst teams in the league.

We're simply hard-wired to feel emotion at moments of great triumph or accomplishment. Some of us show it with tears, others with simple big smiles, others with hoots and hollers. The stoic Vulcans among us are seemingly unaffected, which is a shame.

But it applies to all types of events that show someone or a group of someones succeeding in the face of adversity. Or a celebration of that success, such as a player's retirement. It's a great testament to their perseverance, and that resonates with us.

I personally cry every time at the end of "Mr Holland's Opus" when he finally conducts his symphony, made up of musicians he's taught and lives he's touched over the years as a teacher. Gets me every time...

I also teared up when Peyton Manning and Dane Bradshaw played their final games at Tennessee, and they were barely into their 20's!
