I like to use the “Hot Item Finder” on Ebay to see the trends for what is selling best at the time. There is “wholesale lots” and a “reseller marketplace” which I then look for items that match those trends.
patience- and more patience when using the inet and go through different search engines
Check ebay, but also google the product and it’s amazing what you will come up with. The web really has cut the cost of doing business in so many ways.
Google everything first and then follow links from there.
Your topic would be so much clearer if you didn’t trample the English language in the process. Source is a noun, not a verb.
Meanwhile, if you’re looking for office supplies, start with Staples.com for the basics and google the specifics from there. You can sign up for good deal alerts from many online retailers and services if you’re looking for big ticket items.
Understanding how to use search engine key words to narrow your results. For example to look to duplicate a few CD’s rather than many, search small order/small run CD duplication. A lot of time will be saved if correct words are used.
Go to Google. Type in your product and the word review.
It will bring up a lot of review information that you can use to assess what you are looking for in this product.
I use google to look for products.
I also check out epinions and Amazon for product reviews.
Best way is to have your website properly indexed so that vistors can find you.
Another way is by using google ads and spreading the word out through good ol fashioned word of mouth.
I have an easy 3 step program to do this.
It can be yours for an ipod nano.
I made 10,000 dollars last month working at home!
Consumer of the year articles, e-bay, blue books and such are all good resources.
I like to start with Google and follow links from there, although for some items I have a favorite supplier and go directly to their site.
use ebay’s recently sold prices to gauge pricing
Consumer reports is what I usually use when looking for products. Thank you.
The best tip on using the web to source products for business: search at thomasregister.com and email all vendors your request for quote that includes quantity needed, date required for delivery, and product specifications (size, shape, material) so that if exact item is not available the vendor can offer viable alternatives.
I search by prodcut name, then price, then availability
My tip is to use a comparison shopping site. Thanks!
Google is incredibly valuable, and it weeds out superflous info.
I have found that sites such as http://www.wahm.com, google.com, yahoo search engines, http://www.msn.com search, technorati, searching for blogs that offer free advertising and many of the social networks like myspace.com, facebook, offer alot of ways to get your product out there. I also like mybloglog.com too. Thankyou for giving me a chance to enter this contest.
Google is the best, all you have to do is type in any subject and they give you so much information on anything you want. Then it is up to you to research. Don’t stop at the first or second thing you come to, keep going.
I like using the web to find out about new products and love reviews like on amazon. Thank for having this contest I love it.
cnet is a great place to get reviews on new gadgets.
Google!
I google EVERYTHING!
I also use hot item finder on ebay=) I too look for wholesale lots or search on overstock.com
Thanks for the chance!
Google is the best search engine to find anything!
I use shopping comparison services such as Google Product Search, PriceGrabber and Yahoo Shopping. Also, I check the product reviews in Amazon.com.
Queery on Google!
I use google and ebay to look for prices on items, etc. Thanks for the contest!
What a great contest! I still don’t have one of these…Probably one of the last ones on the planet that doesn’t! Anyways, I usually Google a product and read reviews and price check that way. This worked VERY nicely last week on a portable DVD player for our car! I was able to get a reputable player (according to reviews), at what I felt was the lowest price available, and free shipping! The deals are out there…It just takes some work! Thanks for the awesome giveaway!
I use Google for everything. I love it because you can also ask a question and it is so helpful.
I’ve been good and hope to win this from my friend for Christmas. Wants an ipod and loves music. Thanks. Merry Christmas everyone.
I love E-bay! I also you yahoo auction.
I google everything! and then follow the links.
Google need i say more
Yahoo Search, and Amazon product reviews.
google works for everything!
I agree with others: starting with Google is usually the best.
I use several different search engines and then go to a site like eopinions.
I use Google and Amazon, and always search Ebay to see what treasures I can find there.
I would love to win an IPOD. I thought I was the only on the planet without one
Thanks!!
One of the best ways I source goods is via community boards that deal with either my business or the products I’m interested in. Often the discussion includes not only direct links but reviews on products and services. I find value in word of mouth whether from consumers or from other small business owners.
Google is a great source of info but I also like to go to the review blogs and see what they have to say!
Use google and hot item search on ebay and go to some review sites.
Ebay is the greatest!
Google’s my way too.
Google! Google! Google! and Yahoo too!
I love the internet for the ability to search a company directly or price compare between ebay, overstock etc. and usually there are consumer reviews as well.
Google. thanks for the giveaway
I google and ebay like everyone else, but I find it is also an advantage to get to know people in a forum related to your trade or industry. You might be suprised at how many knowledgable and helpful people communicate in forums. It may help you find the small company who doesn’t have a large web presence yet, but does have the item you need and maybe at a better price. One word of caution however, some people in forums are there just to sell themselves, so as always beware and get several quotes before making a purchase.
I check google and then I check ebay to compare.
Love it ……who doesn’t Google
First Google the product, see what comes up, check a few leads. Than go to Amazon.com or Cnet.com and check reviews. By than you have a fairly good idea of what is there, what is exactly that you want and what are the prices. Than search for specific model/type etc., compare the prices/offers etc. Than go to ebates.com and see if there is a good offer for buying through them and voila! Done
Thanks for the nice giveaway
There are so many search sites to use. Narrowing it down to the just a few words helps. Even just going to store sites you can find great reviews
I use ebay.
I use Google to search for everything.
You can use webferret to search an exact string of words - it makes finding things so much easier sometimes.
I tend to compare any items I sell to other well know sellers. That way to can be competitive with my prices.
Also, try using traffic exchange sites if you are selling online. If you want people to see what you are selling you may want to use traffic exchanges that offer manual surfing rather than auto surfing. That way your potential customers are active and pay more attention to your site.
Always use multiple screens with different sites for comparison before purchasing.
GOOGLE.
I use search word of mouth, search engines, blogs, I check sites like craigslist.com and other forums.
GOOGLE FOR SURE. YOU CAN SEARCH TO YOUR HEARTS CONTENT.
Figure out what services you need. Don’t waste time setting up things that probably won’t get you any turn around. Also, use a fine tooth comb when looking for free or low-cost versions of software are available. Most applications are available for free or low-cost.
nextag.com
My business is a direct marketing company so I have my own website, but I use the internet mainly for finding contacts. The whitepages.com for looking up names and addresses. Also google if I’m unsure of a phone number can do a reverse search and match the name for me. I also use google maps (a no brainer) when making deliveries so I don’t have to call for directions.
I also use it to compare prices on business supplies - like for instance business cards are so much cheaper online at places like VistaPrint rather than Staples or Office Depot.
Google products and ebay is all you need.
I use google first to find a few places that are selling the item I want, and look up the prices. Then go to ebay and see if they have any “buy now” of the same item and check their prices. This is how I determine where to buy something.
i check out an item in stores then find it on line, ebay, etc, get the best deal where ever
Many times I use the live chat at a website to talk with one of the representatives regarding their product prices and sale items.
Good old Google never lets me down
Google what you are looking for and usually the first couple sites are your best option. Always look around for deals, too!
Thanks!
sharvey at connections-etc dot net
What can I say that hasn’t already been said?
I GO TO GRAIGE LIST TO SELL THINGS
http://www.alibaba.com
Always start with Google
I use google, or perhaps sites specifically related to the product I’m looking for. When I buy textbooks in the spring I’m always looking at different textbook sites and ebay to try to find the best deals.
Froogle & Fat Wallet
I love the availability of info on the net. Being able to key word search.
i use yahoo and google for everything
Depending on what I’m looking for, I use different strategies. For tech products, I check the Sunday circulars. For office products, I tend to head straight to Staples since it’s close by. And I’ve recently started using a Firefox add on called PriceDrop, which tracks the price of an item and lets you know if it drops. Good for things you can wait for, or if you think you might be eligible for a price adjustment.
Google is the beginning of all life
It’s obvious that whether you run a business or work for a business, you will most likely have some experience buying products online. This has become the trend for most businesses and it’s only going to grow more.
Myself, I own a network of over 50 websites part-time. I own a sports events business part-time. And I work for a fortune 500 company on a full-time basis. I have a family and a life outside of computers as well. What am I getting at?
TIME is very valuable to me and it should be to you as a business owner as well. Buying products for your business online not only saves you money, but it saves you time like you wouldn’t believe. So what is my tip? My tip is - DON’T SPEND TOO MUCH TIME COMPARING PRICES. Pick a place to buy your products (goWholesale.com) - and stick with them. You will waste so much valuable time trying to find the “best deal” or the “best price” each time you need to buy. This is not time well spent. Even if it means spending a few more bucks - it’s worth it for the convenience of knowing who you are buying from and how they operate.
So that’s my tip. Since time is so valuable in everyones life and business. Do your research once, find a reliable - well priced place such as goWholesale, and STICK WITH THEM!
I hate to be boring, but I use google all the time! Then, I am careful to go directly to the site I am looking for, not the “advertisers”.
I usually use consumer reports to find the best quality, then I google the product to find the best price.
I use google to search for products I am interested in. I use pricegrabber.com to find products with the best price comparisions. I then use amazon.com for product reviews. After that, I make my purchasing decision based on best price and shipping cost.
I use Ebay to source products.
One of the obvious is to link a signature to emails and web forum postings. Craigs list is also helpful.
A surefire way to get some attention is to sponsor a contest. However, make the entrants work a bit to get the entry. For example, list their favorite product from your site/line and so forth. Offering a gift certificate to the winner will also help with word-of-mouth referrals. Of course someone who loves a product will tell others about it!!
I sign up for the e-mail newsletters for the stores I purchase the most from-it alerts me to sales and I often receive great discount and free shipping codes. Plus, this way you know it’s relevant to you and the products you usually buy.
I GOOGLE EVERYTHING!
compare products on several sites
Use amazon. Its almost always cheaper there than anywhere else you look.
Google and use other search engines
I check ebay and yahoo, but I always clear cookies after checking a few sites. These companies don’t need to know that I’m doing my homework!
I like to use the “Web 2.0” or “Web 3.0” concept to sell the product or to recommend product.Blog concept is hot NOW!!!!
Amazon is a great source because it shows you prices of other sites.
I find that using a couple of search engines together gives you the best results concerning products like Google and MSN. I also use Ebay as a resource.
I use a ton of different resources to research products. I not only search for the best price but I also look at other’s reviews. Here are a few I use:
Epinions
The Find
Froogle
Amazon
Ebay
I also search out coupon codes on google to get additional discounts.
Bookmark your favorite sources and keep them all in one folder.
Google is my pick!
Consumer reports, Google, wholesale, ebay these are ways to find reliable products.
I find that using consumer electronics-based sites like CNET allow me to pick the perfect products that have the features I want with the simplicity I need.
I google everything.
Google, Consumer Reports & Shopping.com can solve any dilemma!
Shopping.com compares the prices for you.
I hate to give away my BIG secret but I use a combination of google and craigslist - and here’s how. Once on the google homepage, I type in the item I’m looking for along with the word ‘craigslist’ - for example, “80GB iPod Classic craigslist.” Google searches all the craigslist sites, not just the ones in your area. I often find exactly what I’m looking for for a great price in another city. The trick from this point on is to contact the individual and if at all possible talk on the phone. You want to maintain the community-oriented focus of craigslist and NOT fall for any scams!
I’m a loyal Google user. So when I started looking for supplies to start up my business, of course I went there. I’m also big on looking for customer reviews. If I can google and find customer reviews for the products I am considering purchasing, I am more likely to actually buy it.
It really depends what I am looking for.
New stuff, Amazon, Ebay, and the shopping comparison site. If I can deal with cosmetic blems or returns most retailers have outlet sections. I have scored some sweet deals on monitors in the Dell Outlet store.
Now if I want used I go to Craigslist first and then I do research to find forums that serve that niche. You can find a lot of good gear on forums for photography and other niches that deal in a lot of gear.
Understanding how to use search engine key words to narrow your results, And I use a ton of different resources to research products. I not only search for the best price but I also look at other’s reviews.
google
I find that word of mouth is a powerful tool. I check coupon forums for discount or free shipping codes. I also look for businesses that offer a free sample of the product before I invest and buy a large quantity. If I find that a company has a great sell or freebie I am going to give them a try.
I use google
Use Google and also some of the product review and opinion sites to make a good decision.
Product reviews from actual customers. Make your website as customer friendly as possible.
Although “Google” is generally a good search engine, I think a narrower answer will be more helpful to individuals who are trying to learn how to better go about looking for and comparing products to purchase for their companies.
One of the most important aspects to purchasing online (personally and/or professionally) is to make sure that your information is secure. Is there a Verisign seal or something similar on the website you are considering purchasing from? What is the privacy policy? Do your research. Although most sites are reputable, it only takes one bad seed to mess up your life and your credit as well as your company’s.
And although time is of the essence in any business, time is also your best investment into your company. Keeping overhead down can only be done by investing some of your time comparison shopping. You know when you need to re-stock, whether it is once a month or quarterly. Set aside some time to devote to saving money on your purchases. And, be happy that the internet is available to do this! Imagine how long comparison shopping took when a business owner had to drive from store to store!
Hi! I look online for items I plan on purchasing on Amazon.com for their price plus the price of their registered sellers, then I check eBay to see what sellers and individuals are actually getting for the items new and used then I have a good general working knowledge of the going price for intended purchases!
A good website will have information that is quick to view and sufficient details. Ask.com has taken that next step!
I like to use yahoo answers to ask other people about products they’ve used and which products they prefer and what they liked and didnt like about the item/product!
I like to do my Christmas shopping and comparing products on the web. Thank you for the chance to win.
DO PRICE COMPARISONS BEFORE MAKING A PURCHASE!
i search by product name
I love to search the web to product compare.
Google whatever and then follow links from the un-sponsored links.
I personally use Google, Blingo, Yahoo search… and if I don’t find what I am looking for there, then I use Bizrate, My Simon and Price Grabber.
Thanks for doing this contest! I’m sure I will be back, I am going to try to start my own sewing business from home.
Google or eBay, but also I get a lot of leads and info on the professional forum I belong to.
I google a lot of the products I am interested in. I look for reviews on them, especially from bloggers or people that post reviews on their websites.
blogged ya: http://laurawilliamsmusings.blogspot.com/2007/12/wednesday-edition-of-contests-galore.html
The best of the best website to source a product is “http://about.pricegrabber.com/”
because this website contains any products ranging from as small as small kitchen appliances to CD’s & dvd’s to bedroom furnitures.
http://about.pricegrabber.com/ is a website that takes prices from multiple websites and compares them to each other and gives you the best price.More importantly you can advertise your products there and also create an account for free which lets you add and sell your product on that website
I’m just going to be honest, some entries are sincere and not that bad, but most of them are pathetic. I’m somewhere in between and I’m not going to puke out nonsense just to be added to the contest. COUNT ME OUT! But thanks for the good info from those of you that should win!
I google everything.
google + amazon are great sources
A great site for local businesses is Craigslist. Listing is free and it targets your neighborhood. I have seen listing for Landscapers and if you call on the day posted, they have a special price because they were slow on that day.
my best tip is to be patient.
Google and follow the links.
I use google first, thne try to find a place thaat has reviews. you do have to be patient and look at more than one source.
My 12 year old daughter always tells me: Google it.
I search Winzy and Blingo for easy searches (so I can win at the same time) and if I’m looking up a person or a specific image I use Google/Google images. I rarely use Yahoo because I think Google has more information/pictures. I check e-bay and Amazon.com often if searching if price comparing or if I’m trying to find out what something is worth.
google it and be willing to use off-the-norm retailers
I love epinions.com
Reviews by real people on products for the home or business.
I like to look at the local sellers on E-Bay because of shipping. I think that specifying quick delivery is important.
google
Google is your answer to everything internet. Follow the links.
I use Google for everything. Also, on Amazon and Overstock they have a link for their deals of the day. And if you Google ‘discount codes’ or ‘free shipping’ codes you can usually find some sort of discount from whichever merchant your purchasing from.
On Gibson website, there are many sweepstakes to enter for a chance win. I have actually won Before. Any Guitar fan should go there!
I really like froogle.com Thanks
I like Craigslist, U can find new and used stuff on there
I use google, price grabber, ebay and amazon to find the best prices. Thanks.
I use my simon, google and ebay.
I Use Yahoo.com Search Engine
craigslist & amazon are my favs
I SWEAR BY OVERSTOCK.COM AND SMARTBARGAINS.COM I ALWAYS GOOGLE FOR DISCOUNT CODES BEFORE I MAKE A PURCHASE
First, I ask my close friends and family.
Then Google or where my contacts point me too.
As someone else said, Amazon and similar sites (YELP is good for business reviews) are great for product reviews…as well as amusing to read other’s sheer hatred or love for a product.
I love to use shop.com because you can compare prices!
Google coupon code before you pay for any items in your cart. The discounts are there.
I always use Google to shop and compare.
I’ve used ebay to narrow down brands and to scope out specs - for instance, once we NEEDED something but didn’t know the actual brand name or maker -with eBay, I put in the FUNCTION and found the product. We weren’t authorized to buy it on ebay, but it was a great source of information!
It depends on what I am looking for. I usually start with local ads to determine average prices. I will then go to Amazon, Google, Overstock.com or any number of other comparable sources. I can compare by price, by style or features and select where I will make my purchase.
I search for almost everything on google.com, microsoft.com, and smallbusiness.yahoo.com gives some great tips and information for business.
I search on Google.
The best thing to do is familiarize yourself with the internet. Know what and where to search by investing time into meeting new people joining chat groups. The knowledge from other people and yourself put together will help you achieve a greater investment. Dont just search for answers, Ask for answers to.
My favorite tools are Consumer Reports, Epinions and simply googling the name of the product and the word “review”. Then I use one of those sites where you can compare prices without having to go to all the seller sites individually.
I find networking to be an invaluable tool - especially if you are talking about something in a niche market. There are innumerable resources online (message boards, product review sites, communities) for cyber-networking to occur. Thanks for the giveaway
when looking for a product i usually go to cnet.com for user reviews and professional reviews, prices and specs, it’s the best, i go there to check out even the cheapest things i buy to make sure it’s the best!
when i’m looking for something i like to go to froogle to check out prices
Google will save the world! Use it!
