Absolutely. I think tools like Jigsaw and Linkedin are a great starting point especially for people like me who are in many ways the realization of the stereotype of geeks. Shy, socially awkward. Having the option to first present myself online first and get to know people that way then later meet up is awesome. I've met several people I knew first online then in person and the connection you have is just at a much deeper level. So to me, a mix of both is good.

Networking is critically important for any business, but particularly for small businesses and entrepreneurs. I would urge everyone to take advantage of Jigsaw and other similar online networking sites, but don't forget person-to-person networking. A good network is based on a strong foundation, not on a single tool.
