On the following page, click the link for “new installation”. You’ll then be taken to an administrative page that looks like the image below.
Verify you are using the correct URL, as shown by the first arrow. Where the second arrow is, choose a login and password for the site. When those two areas are filled out, click “Install Wordpress” and you’re done!
Note: The following screen will give your login details and the option to have those details emailed-which I highly recommend.
Step 3: Upload the Theme of Your Choice
To get a theme, do a simple Google search or check out wordpress.org. When you have the one you like, download, unzip it and log back into the Bluehost control panel.
From there, choose “unlimited FTP,” where you will be able to upload your theme. Find your saved file on the left side of the FTP client. On the right side, double click the “public_html” folder, “wp_content” folder and “themes” folder. Once you are successfully in the “themes” folder, right click on your saved theme (on the right) and choose upload.
*Note: Use the same process for Plugins, but upload them into the “plugins” folder.
Step 4: Activate Your Theme
Find your login information and sign into Wordpress. You should be taken to the Wordpress dashboard that looks like the image below:
Click “design” at the top of the screen. If you uploaded your theme correctly, it should be right there waiting for you. Click on it, hit activate and you’re ready to blog!
