It is unfortunate I cannot lower my bill and un-bundle unlimited text so might as well use it.
One of the best things I love about SMS right now is the ability to help me quickly send tasks either to myself in an email or to partners and assistants. They receive it as a typical email. This works really well for me because sometimes there are thoughts that just pop into my head and can’t quit worrying about it until someone does something or it’s filed into my to dos’ and I’m elsewhere at the moment.
Great example was this morning. I suddenly remembered a customer who asked to cancel a subscription but don’t remember the name. I don’t like to start up my computer before I do my morning rituals to prepare myself for work and I was busy getting the kiddos ready for school. SMS to the rescue. I send a short under 160 character message to my partner and it’s done. Out of mind and I know that it’ll be acted upon when they get the email.
How do you do this? Simple. When you want to email someone instead of texting, just enter their email address where you’d normally enter a phone number. It works with most carriers. The best part, if you’re using something like Remember The Milk or any of the project management systems that can create tasks from emails, you can text your tasks directly into those systems.
