One of the things I’m doing with my new Epson Artisan 800 is printing my own postcards and brochures.
I have ordered postcards from Vista Print at a very affordable rate and been pleased with the results in the past and if I need a large run of one kind of postcard, I’d definitely use them again just to save time. For my current needs though - I want to create postcards that are very targeted to the people I’m sending them to.
I have a local design and hosting company I run together with my nephew Gabe. We have a Chamber of Commerce membership and have a plan to send a postcard to our fellow Chamber members, but I don’t want every postcard to look alike.

Rather, I want each small business owner to receive a postcard that will get their attention and say ‘This is for me!’
I’ll accomplish this by changing the headline on the postcard to speak to their unique business. I’ll also incorporate an image that matches up with what they do.
The rest of the postcard will be mostly generic - but by editing the headline and image, I’m going to make a connection that will make the reader interpret the rest of the content as though it were written just for them.
We do this sort of targeting in internet marketing all the time. We write and funnel traffic to special landing pages designed to convert well for a specific target market. Doing it with print marketing materials makes perfect sense.
I could never do something like this with an outsourced printing service. Another reason I’m so happy to have my new Epson.

Awesome marketing, Kelly. You are one smart cookie! The only problem with this post is, now you have me wanting that sleek, cool printer. Lol.
