WAHMs have decided they don't want to shut down the most important part of their lives while they work outside the home for 8-12 hours each day (adding in commute time). If a WAHM is meeting her bills and has the flexibility to be with her children as they need her - you'd have a hard time tempting her to work outside the home even if it meant earning more money. That flexibility has a value placed on it that few jobs could ever match. I am one wahm who does it because I want to, because I need something of my own, it's great being home for the kids, but I would probably be home regardless due to daycare costs, my business gives me my own sense of self.
