I used to journal daily without fail, but somehow I fell out of the habit as well. I think it has a lot to do with my blogging. I am writing out a lot more of my thoughts online now, but then those personal self issues get ignored.

I do still have my ideas notebook where I write down ideas for domain names, projects, etc... my best ideas always seem to come when I'm away from the computer -lol-

I journal practically everyday. I have a prayer journal of sorts and a business journal. I've been journaling seriously since I was 14. I'm 28.....that's a long time and a LOT of journals.

I can see that there are lots of different reasons to keep a journal - some I hadn't thought of.

Thanks for your thoughts and encouragement!

I treated my mom blog for a long time as my personal journal, and prior to that did keep a journal/diary for many, many years. I don't do it so much anymore though, might be something to think about again one of these days!

I think the people who can journal are very disciplined and it's a wonderful thing. I never have and doubtful that I ever will. No particular reason, other than I just don't see it happening.

Some months ago I began a private blog in order to do some journaling. I didn't write anything in it in November and December, but today, with the beginning of the New Year, I decided to use it again, in order to check my progress with some of the goals I have for 2009.

I have journals that I use to keep track of my weight loss and fitness journey. I just posted my goals and actually took a picture of all my journals for the post. One can never have too many. LOL

I might start a personal/business journal and see where it takes me.

I've kept a journal for years off and on - more off lately! I'd love to get back to it and have plenty of journals that I could use. I like writing it all down and mostly enjoy rereading it down the road. Getting back to keeping a journal is a great idea!

My sister gave me a planner. I tried to use it but I soon realized that I don't plan much (or I'd rather keep things in my head or on a piece of paper that I simply toss later). Instead I used it to journal. After a few months I found the fixed-sized space limiting and switched to a personal blog.

Now I've started a new notebook though. It's where I write down ideas that comes to me. I don't write in great details though.

One of my new productivity tools for 2009 is a learning journal where I will take notes from my various learning materials and most importantly list my action steps.

Another type of journal I immensely enjoyed writing was my prayer journal. In it, I noted the day's Gospel reading, picked a line that struck me, and wrote down my reflection on it. Must remember to do that again.

Journaling is a very rewarding activity especially for us women, who often need to step back and examine our lives.

Who was the philosopher who said, "The unexamined life is not worth living"?
