You Must DO In Order to Break Through

I have been talking and thinking a LOT about breakthrough since early December.

It started with Breakthrough Week at Mom Masterminds. Our members gathered every morning from Monday to Friday to talk about an area where many needed breakthrough. I’ve been wanting to come here to the blog and share some of my thoughts about these topics. Today I’ll share on two of them.

Breaking Through The Blues

Winter is the worst for battling the blues – especially for moms who stay home. Even if you’re keeping busy with work and the family, you’re not getting out into the sun very much and usually not getting enough physical activity. For some this translates into a few extra naps but for some it can turn into outright depression.

It’s important to be sensitive to your mood and be willing to DO something that the first sign of the blues.

Some simple tips for breaking through the blues are:

  • Take care of yourself. Shower, dress, put on makeup and do your hair.
  • Do something creative. Paint, color, doodle, put a puzzle together – whatever makes you happy.
  • Purge. Throw stuff away. Put together a package for Goodwill and drop it off.
  • Do something for someone else. Take a shut in a meal, help out at church.

If the very thought of doing any of these things makes you tired – you may be beyond simple and need to see a doctor for some extra help.

Developing a Decision Habit

Some people find it very hard to make decisions about their business.

Heck, I know moms who have been ‘thinking’ about starting a business but have gotten lost in the fact gathering stage for years. Have you ever felt like you were caught up in paralysis of analysis? It happens when you do too much thinking and not enough doing. You get stuck in a mud bog of information – hoping that the next little bit of info will be so enlightening that you know what to do.

Learning is crucial but it needs to be quickly followed by action. Often, until you DO something with what you’re learning there is an element of confusion about it anyways. So running from one learning opportunity to another just creates more confusion.

I say the moment you realized that your confused you need to stop and evaluate. Do a brain dump and create a plan of action. Then DO what you plan before you go on to absorb more info.

Sometimes we fear making the wrong decisions. That’s ok – make a decision anyways. The worst that can happen is that you’re wrong. (And you’ll have learned something!)

What do you need to break through? There’s got to be a DO waiting for you somewhere ;)

I get this loud and clear and see that I need to implement some of them too! Took me reading this to see that the blues have crept up on me, yikes!

I just moved so the purging is completed LOL. I don’t think I have worn makeup in over a month…OVER A MONTH! That is not my usual MO. I miss my walks along the beach and have slacked in the exercise area too.

Think this is just the post I needed to read tonight. THANK YOU :)

Enjoyed your post. Right now I am at the end of the spectrum where I tackle things related to my business and not let them slack. I feel great for being a go getter instead of a procrastinator.

You said something that has always been so true for me but yet I never follow through on sticking to it. “Take care of yourself. Shower, dress, put on makeup and do your hair.” When I take the time to get up a little earlier in the mornings and do these things I feel so different. It’s almost like those things give me a positive feeling. It almost sets the mood for the day. Interesting that I know this but yet I don’t do it. And it’s so easy to let yourself go when you start feeling blue!
